I don't understand the criticism of James today.

I don't think he was any worse than anyone else really. I'd rather he wasn't in the side though. We've spunked away a fortune on Iborra and Silva and they're less mobile than GTF was in midfield. For me, James doesn't really do much wrong but that may be because he doesn't really do much. Today he jogged along casually behind N'd'i'd'i and did very little when he had the ball. Generally unsure what he's supposed to offer other than we need to name 11 players. As I say though, odd to single him out.

Agree - They were awful - IDEA - Instead website of showing players laughing and joking in training sessions (I said they weren't taking it seriously at the time) perhaps we should have a few images of them trying corners and free kicks

Ever consider they were laughing at the trying to take corners and free kicks?

I think it's easy to underestimate the importance of the squad harmony and happiness of the players. What's more effective at work for you, enjoying your job or being forced to do the bits that you aren't quite as good at, repeatedly, until you get it right?
Yes - the corners would improve. But what's the impact on the other parts?

NB - obviously we do train on corners. But also obviously - not really enough.

So don’t put the majority of your effort into improving your overall game? Interesting.

James doesn't really do anything wrong, but he doesn't offer much.

He is not particularly a defensive midfielder, he is not at all creative and lacks the energy to be a box to box player.

He will recycle possession as well as anyone, but he epitomises our lethargic and boring attitude ATM.

The one thing he doesn't epitomise is our chronic tendency of giving away the ball cheaply or getting dispossessed in our own half, which is getting us into trouble week after week - Ndidi's inept effort by the friggin touchline today one of a clutch, at least it was so pathetic you could laugh at it.

I’m a James defender personally, but in games like today he’s not the right choice. Silva should be playing as much as possible.

The bigger question for me, in hindsight, is the exclusion of Dragovic. He’s been quietly excellent during his time in the side and should be well pissed off. Go and watch their goal again: while the midfield is AWOL leaving Shaqiri acres big Wes also completely backed off him, the one thing you don’t do against the little rascal.

But again, the largest issue is simply this: Claude has taken one of the more dangerous sides in the premier league and turned them into a cure for insomnia. ****ing boring to watch. Perhaps we’ve been spoiled. It used to be Vardy and Mahrez that defined us...nowadays we feel a lot more Marc Albrighton.

James is one of those players that proves the uselessness of most player stats. His passing is largely successful, his tackling is okay, he never seems to make a key mistake. That sort of thing.

I just can't see how anyone watching our games in person cannot see how peripheral to the play he is. If we lose possession, you see Ndidi sprinting back and James is always about 30 yards behind him looking like he's running through treacle. He's just not involved enough. He' no threat going forward, he's not someone that provides 'killer' passes forward. His instinct is always to do the simple thing which isn't a bad thing in itself, but it's hardly going to ever really get us anywhere.

In short, he's a very accurate representation of his manager; average and dull.

Both Iborra and Silva have shown me that they're significantly more adept and talented players. Maybe James is a more popular player with his team mates? Who knows?

Another frustrating game. I admire Puel for attempting to play a more possessioon/passing style ,but have we the quality?? Today we never took control of the midfield for a minute (and against Stoke at home). When Iborra has played although he lacks energy/pace he keeps/controls the ball, as does Silva. We need NDidi for his tackling and energy, we also need a midfield that is comfortable playing possession/slow build up football. imo a 3 man central midfield is a must, we have never suited 442 since Kante left.

It's taken some thought and stealing someone else's thought.....It's England isn't It? We're playing like England. Only thing left to complete it is pumping Andy Fackin Paddy Townsend commentary through the PA system.

19 shots and 9 on target tells me that despite a relatively poor performance, it was a game Leicester should’ve won. I think part of the problem is the team has lost its intensity. We are not going down, stuck between 7th and 10th, big opportunity in the Cup. That game against Chelsea will define the season, win it and the season goes on. So many teams in recent seasons who are 7th-10th go into a malaise. Leicester are no different and you’re seeing it with Burnley and Everton.
