The last few games we haven’t started brightly enough or with enough tempo and when that happens we allow the opposition to settle and get into their rhythm.

Okay sometimes the first 10 minutes are okay and generally the last 10 also but for 70 minutes or so we are playing like we are in a pre-season friendly.

This is not the fault of either Vardy or Mahrez or in my opinion the defence (overall).

This springs purely from our inability in central midfield to get the ball forward quick enough or ‘pick’ the unlocking pass.

UnDidi is having a poor patch and James is in no way a driving midfield player. We are passionate NYG sideways and backwards and are badly missing creativity in the central midfield area - Silva will fill this void but he needs time I feel.

Not really, if the opposition won't let you play to your super strikers strengths, you have to adapt as a team to combat this.

Well I would definitely say that, but we're in transition or summat to something utterly amazing, so both he and Mahrez have got to get their act together and do something different

I don't agree.

It makes no sense to take a superb asset proven to be successful and change it.

Vardy can use his strengths to great effect irrespective of the opposition approach. No defence is immune to a quick and clinical finisher.

He doesn't need a ball over the top all the time, he lives on the defenders shoulder so a ball for him to cut in would be equally effective. Give him the ball in and around the 18 yard box and he scores every second game.

Well we appear to have 'adapted' by playing two deep lying central defensive midfielders and everyone else fannying about on the wing getting in each others way - thus leaving our super striker completely on his own

Stoke did a great job of taking Vardy out if the game, it was easy.

If anyone is struggling to understand the idea that he needs to adapt his runs and movement, have a watch of MOTD from Saturday, even those dullards picked up on it.

I agree with you, he is. But his last couple of games for us were shockingly poor and he was right to be dropped.

Hopefully that was just down to the quantity of games he played in a short period of time.

Matty James reminds me of Andy King somewhat. Doesn’t do much wrong but also doesn’t do much right.

I’d give Iborra another go on Saturday personally.

His first couple of games were 'shockingly poor' as many on here made reference to. So if his last couple were awful and his first couple were awful it leaves very little in between where he was okay (ish). He's done no more than James has in reality.

The typical process in this type of dialogue when we have a manager who is hopeless at team selection is that an ignoramus like me claims that our manager is a dullard. Followed by a learned poster pointing out that the manager sees the players all week in training and has infinitely more knowledge of football than a prat like me. Followed by the manager getting the chop about five minutes later. Puel hasn't been here too long but he seems determined to prove Southampton right by making serial rubbish choices. My long experience tells me that the fans are usually more right then wrong and that Puel is on thin ice already.
