The rise of the EDL is having a similar impact to the NF in the 80s on the perceptions of 'patriotic' identifiers. It's a real shame. I don't include the poppy in that though. It's still very much a remembrance thing to most.
I think I may now have to put this thread on ignore; the trolling has reached a truly ridiculous level.
Mrs SJN was accused of being racist yesterday ... She was sat in the waiting room at the Royal Marsden, minding her own business eating a ham sandwich, when the woman sitting next to her asked her to move as she was a Muslim and the ham sandwich was offending her.
My wife calmly and quietly explained that as it was her that was offended , maybe it should be her that moved. At which point the woman glared at her and, as loudly as she could called her a racist and got up and moved.
This is the point at which I think I would have flipped. Mrs SJN however, quietly continued to eat her lunch. (Whilst inwardly seething).
Wait, did this actually happen? I'm confused.
Yes, it actually happened.
Ha! I knew I hadn't just imagined it.
Was anybody wearing a poppy during the hospital exchange?

A perfectly valid and true point of view to think that a poppy is 'a glorification of war'.
To me it is a symbol of blood lust and delight in warmongering. It's also a way of raising money for the government.

Just wanted to see if anyone actually reads what I post. Here is what I posted on December 1st in response to ChrisFilter......

To me it is a symbol of respect and remembrance for those who sacrificed their lives to defend and protect us. It's also a way of raising money to help those who survive their injuries.
Good stuff Filth. Nice one :thumbs_upJust wanted to see if anyone actually reads what I post. Here is what I posted on December 1st in response to ChrisFilter......

Just watched the goals and had a look at the stats.
Both good goals.
We had NO offsides!
Can't remember that happening for a while.
