For the Puel In contingent:

3 points and a clean sheet
Still some new players to come in and bedding in of squad. I pray one of these centerhalves can play.
Albrighton and Mendy decisions validated
Some decent spells of play, particularly from Maddison and Ricardo
Chilwell is growing game by game
Sensible subs

For the Puel Out contingent:
Lucky to win the game and back four still all over the shop
Vardy still a marginalized and frustrated figure
Started incredibly slowly...as usual
Style still sluggish and deliberate

Basically did nothing to change minds from their previous opinions.

As a person very critical of Puel I'll say this: there's some real talent in this squad.

Was encouraged by Chilwell Mendy Maddison and Ricardo. Thought Nacho did well in his cameo. Big chance for him now.

Yes a strange game that we could have easily lost. We were so brain dead at times.

I will however add that there are some real positives. Chilwell, Maddison, Pereira and Mendy were very good.

As for Evans, there is not a chance I am writing him off after one game but my god he was bad in the first half.

Puel made absolutely the right decisions with Amartey, Silva and Morgan dropping out but Evans just didn’t look fit to me. It wouldn’t have mattered much had he played the other side of Maguire, he’d have still been running through treacle. Still, I think we should start with him against the Saints as one game isn’t enough to judge anything about him. Chilwell again looked good going forward but he does leave huge gaps in behind as doesn’t mark well enough when required. I was really surprised by Mendy today. He was excellent at tidying up, breaking up play and distributing the ball, everything we have missed since Kante left. His performance today was better than anything we have seen from a Silva or Iborra since they joined us. It’ll be very interesting to see what Iheanacho can do in Vardy’s absence. He will now have the run of games he wants so he must take advantage.

Whether it comes off or not, when Maddison receives the ball, he looks to turn and drive at the opposition. It’s the first time I’ve seen him in the flesh and I made a point of trying to watch him closely. I like him and think he’s going to be a massive signing for us.

On the game itself - most stuff has already been said. Our back four was too easy to carve open early on, as our full backs both push high. Brown Nose said it in the prematch thread and I agree, we didn’t match up well against their 3-4-3 and struggled. Changing formation in the second half helped us close out the game.

Wolves - they were pretty impressive early on and will rue missing their early chances. At the minute they remind me of us in 14/15, when we were promoted. Drew 2-2 with Everton in the first match and then lost 2-0 in the second game. They lacked a bit of Premier League nous. We gained that when Huth was signed and I felt they lacked an experienced player to sort them out.

Anyone else notice the quality of the clacker appears to have deteriorated

To be honest, the quality of my clacker deteriorated some time ago

It still clacks, but not very often

It was not a good performance at all and we rode our luck literally the entire match. Wolves hit the woodwork three times, and our two goals came from an own goal and a shot which took a deflection.

However, I’m encouraged by the spirit we showed to grind out the result, especially when Vardy made such a brainless decision in flying in for that tackle. Yes he won the ball but he followed through and could have seriously injured the player. 20-25 years ago that would have been a good tackle, but not in today’s game.

I said before the game that I didn’t think Evans in for Morgan would be a good idea, and it was vindicated. Morgan did pretty well against Man United so I thought it would be harsh to drop him, and Evans hadn’t played a competitive game since March. Evans looked like he had won a competition to play for us, he was that bad. I’m not going to write him off after one game, but I do think Morgan should come back in against Southampton. I’d then give Evans the Fleetwood game.

Mendy was surprisingly good. Ricardo great again.

As BN said, I still don’t know how this season is going to go. We managed to grind out the win today but we have to play better than that at home. Four points from the next two games would mean it would be a good start to the season.

Jammiest three points we will get this season but - it's 3 points
Very similar to the first 2 games of last season
Tough away game aginst top opposition followed by home game banker
Agree with earlier comments the woodwork was MOTM - closely followed by stunning own goal that Frank Sinclair would have been proud of

mad Frank head like a 50 pence peice

Thought Chilwell, Ricardo & Mendy were a step above the rest. Evans looked rusty would certainly stick with him next week.

Vardy May have a case as he went with his side foot but I doubt they’d over turn it and he probably could have just got his toe to it and played it to Maddison.

Saw someone say he looked frustrated to me he just looked how he always does and some of our own fans need to stop wanting every ball booted long for him to chase

He has no case. It was a totally and utterly reckless challenge and his foot ended up way higher than the ball. What makes it worse is that he could have quite easily stepped in and taken the ball, he was always getting there first. It was a dangerous, cynical challenge and he deserved to be sent off. What an idiot he can be sometimes.

Have to agree, there's no excuse for that challenge.

I thought he was unlucky at the time, having seen it again it was a completely twatty decision to chuck himself in like that.

We are very frustrating to watch. The win will hopefully build some momentum but my god were they sloppy. Utterly suicidal defensive line at times in the first half. It doesn’t matter if we have Rio Ferdinand in his prime or a doughy, unfit Jonny Evans, having the full backs standing virtually on the touch line while attackers wander around in the vast, yawning chasm left between them and the two centre backs is just madness.

I thought there were some good individual performances, I liked some of the link up play down the wings but generally we were a complete mess without the ball.

Not that this matters one jot but I’ve got a strong feeling that James Maddison might be a total dickhead. I can see him winding players up no end this season.

Silky as **** on the ball though.

People are being a bit negative. There were both good and bad points.

We kept a clean sheet despite some poor work by the back four. This was partly due to the excellence of Mendy, Maddison and Ndidi. I can understand Maddison being man of the match although I would have picked Mendy. We already guessed Maddison was good but Mendy was a revelation. I cannot remember Silva or Iborra playing as well.

Apart from his part in the first goal I thought Albrighton was poor. He came off scowling. This was not mardiness at being substituted. This was a man who remembered the prayer book "We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done

This was the first time I have seen Nuno the Wolves manager. I like him. Whatever was happening in the match he remained affable. His dress sense is interesting; he makes Klopp look elegant. I was reminded of lines from Wodehouse:
People have asked the name of my tailor Jeeves.
Doubtless to avoid him Sir.

Yes. Last season it was wider and slightly plastic coated. Yesterday narrow and seemingly just card. Last season it lasted until around the last quarter of the game before breaking up, yesterday it was in pieces before half time.

Suppose it also depends on how often you bash your clacker during the game.

Anyway, shoddy clackers I can put up with. My biggest gripe is with the ****ing banner in the kop. Sure it looks great from three sides of the ground but when you are stuck underneath the bastard thing on a muggy humid day and can't see **** all on the pitch whilst the teams come out and have to stand up with your arms outstretched to keep the filthy bastard plaggy cover off your head and give yourself some breathing space and try to help a wife who gets slightly claustrophobic.........

Yeah you mean well you lads in the top corner, but forfoxsake have some consideration and stick to pitchside banners in future.

And what dickheads are the majority of the crowd who cheered him off.
