Maddison and Tielemans the obvious star players today but Thomas deserves a shout out as he's been solid recently.

And KDH has slotted in nicely and added some needed energy.

We were excellent in the second half. BR got the changes and the timing of them right. Newcastle are awful but we played some lovely attacking football.

I really would be tempted to keep Ndidi at CB even if Evans is fit. It just worked better with Ndidi only having to concentrate on one job.

6 points off the top 4 is mental considering how poor we have been this season.

If we can actually put a decent run together we could be right up there.

Leicester midfielder James Maddison speaking to Sky Sports: "When you're in Europe you come up against teams who have a whole week to prepare. We got back on Thursday night, to sleep at 4am then back here again so it's tough to bounce back on tired legs, especially with a Covid-hit squad.

"That's what it's about. The most pleasing thing after getting an assist, a goal and a penalty is the clean sheet. We've talked about that a lot. To look at the scoreboard at the end and see a nil next to the opponent is a good feeling.

"I got fouled in the box. I wanted to take it to be honest but Youri is back and he's good at penalties. He's a top player and a Belgian international. We missed him dearly. He's a top player and it's brilliant to have him back. He helps people like myself to do stuff at the top end of the pitch.

"He's a brilliant, willing runner and very humble and selfless. You can tell how humble and happy he is. He's very unselfish like Jamie Vardy is. They are both natural goalscorers so brilliant to have in the team.

"I can't even imagine how angry Kasper would have been like in the changing room if one of his own team had ruined his clean sheet!

"The problem has been consistency. All of a sudden you get a good performance and three points and it puts you in the mix for the top six. But it's all about consistency in the Premier League. You can go back-to-back wins and you can be back up there. We're not naive, it's just about the conviction going forwards."

Wow how badly did we need that?

It wasn’t always the most convincing performance but massive praise to them today. We defended with real hunger in the second half, the relief after going two up and scoring a nice goal from open play was palpable.

Thomas was man of the match for me, KDH is raw but works his bollocks off and Daka had a massive second half. Maddison made mistakes but was easily the most talented player on the pitch, it was embarrassing watching Shelvey try to deal with him.

Ndidi recovered from that mistake in the first half and just about held it together with a ropey Castagne next to him. Incredible how we contrived to almost concede following our own short corner and without them touching the ball.

It was great to see Youri enjoy his goals and see a bit of the old Leicester attacking in that second half. It came in fits and starts but Barnes, Maddison, Youri and Daka clicking is a sexy sight to behold.

They’re shit, **** them and their fans and their horrible players. I hope they go down and their shithole stadium catches fire, not with anyone in it like… we’ll leave their ownership to do the killing.

Just got in so missed that. Really looking forward to reading the match thread.

Our penalty was a joke btw

Aye, a ****ing hilarious one though. I'm going to be on Facebook being the Archbishop of Banterbury. I never gloat when it's good times for us but certain Newcastle supporting friends revel in their mediocrity when they beat us.

We have amazing players, particularly when some more are back.
If they are superbly coached and motivated we will be top 6. I don't think Rodgers can say they've been superbly set up and motivated this year. He needs to step up and hope that players coming back and a fresh vardy means we can finish this season like we started the last two.
