Heres one for all the geeks out there. Am I right in thinking the last time we went 4-0 up at half time was against Derby away under MON? And I know the last time we scored 5 goals was Sunderland, but what was the last time before that?

A few of us were thinking about this at the end of the match. I reckon the last 5 (or more) was when we beat Rochdale 6-1 in the League Cup up at their place, about 1993(?). In the League we got 5 against Watford about a year earlier at Filbert Street.

I can't think of any other occasion since then.

Versus Cambridge in the play offs..Rooooster...

That would have been the season before the Watford game mentioned above.

You lose - which in no way makes up for your win in the Prediction League yesterday, you ****er!.

Bum. Should know better than to go in against you.

this very post was featured on Radio Leicester sometime after the game which I heard while driving back from the match. It didn't seem that they took it in the sarcastic manner it was most likely intended to be taken in though...

perhaps some people don't see this as a joking matter. Not with Plymouth away coming up........:icon_eek:

Feck me, they were truly shite weren't they ?

But not much worse than Donny the other night, so what on earth made the difference. For everything that was woeful and pathetic On Tuesday, today was top quality and outstanding

Hats off to Gally, who was beyond awful against Donny, and was excellent today. Big credit to Waggers, Dyer and Oakley too, who I thought were superb

Lovely stuff, all in all :038:

I think Doncaster came to try to smother the game and just tackle hard and earn a point. Scunthorpe seemed a lot more open, I imagine it's how we appeared against Forest.

Have not had time to read all the posts so apologies if this is a repeat. Gally was obviously outstanding but I was very impressed with Kermogant. Not only did he win all the headers, they were directed into space or towards Waghorn, something Howard never seems able to do! He looked bery dangerous. Would like to see Kermogant and Solarno get more time on the pitch.

I don't get people slagging off our display, personally I tjought the first half display was one of the best displays I think I've ever seen from a City side. It was like watching Arsenal at times the way we played it about especially leading up to our 2nd and 4th goals.

Scoring 4 well taken and well made goals in about half an hour is impressive for anyone. Apart from the 5 minutes after half time, there's no reason to critisise the performance at all in my opinion.

I went to this game so witnessed that particular record victory as well as yesterday but thought we were going to get 6 again when Solano had that shot on the run. had it gone in I think the house would have come down.
He looked so at ease at full back passed to a man every time short and long balls and played some nice interlinking play.
Kermit did well too and won every ball in the air and battled well on the ground too I was wishing he could get the 6th as well.
Gally besides his goals always looked a threat and made Waggers goal with that cross from the byeline. He tired a bit later in the 2nd half and perhaps should have come off before that miss for his 4th. Did anyone else hear his interview on RL just b4 6pm? He said that the goalie said "head it!" to him in an attempt to try and put him off for the hat-trick so he did! :icon_bigg His first ever headed goal!!
This does mean though that he is NOT the answer to missing Fryatt though as you can't have a main striker who can't head the ball. Playing in the role as he did yesterday is his best position.

Of course there is still a question mark over our strikers. One game, against poor opposition, cannot answer all the doubts but, this is apparently the first time in ten years that we have scored five goals (a BBC Final Score statistic that I have not checked): therefore, the first five goal haul at the Walkers. I am sure that we have played poor teams in that spell and, with our first choice strikers.

We would all rather have Matty Fryatt available for the remainder of the season but, in his absence, what do you suggest that we should do: support the strikers we have, possibly help them to grow, so that next season we have more than one player capable of scoring twenty goals in this league or, bring in a loanee who might manage a dozen goals this season but will tell our current strikers that they have no future?

Whether Gallagher replaces Rooney as the country's best forward or becomes the next Akinbiyi, he has earned the right to a run in the team as the main striker.

(Motown Fox Quote - This does mean though that he is NOT the answer to missing Fryatt though as you can't have a main striker who can't head the ball. Playing in the role as he did yesterday is his best position.)

I agree with Motown. He played the same role that he played poorly in on Tuesday. Let him continue to play that role. I hope Waghorn (a loanee), Fryatt's out and out replacement yesterday, will continue to lead the line as well as he did yesterday. Fingers crossed

It surely must be alarming to Pearson and staff how many times our two centre-backs Brown and Hobbs lose the ball to the opposition whether in open play or by kicking it out for a throw.

Met a Grimsby fan on the train on the way home last night. He asked me seven times how we got on. I first thought his Alzheimers was even more advanced than mine, until he reminded of the local rivalry and that he could never be told too often of Scunthorpe having five put past them.

Know where he is coming from. Hate Scumthorpe, always nice to beat them, but yesterday was brilliant. Now just to beat the scum from down the M69. :icon_wink
