Interesting article, particularly how it debunks the myth that teams that finish 3rd never go up whilst also supporting the theory that the teams with momentum do pretty well.

Yes but of the last 84 play-off qualifiers over that period only 9 teams have ever qualified for the play-offs with a points ratio per game of 1.29 or less

The last time 2 teams with such a ratio got into the play-offs (ie us & Palace this year) was in 2007-2008 the team who were eventually promoted (Hull) beat who in the First leg? Watford

And were was the referee from the first leg in that first leg? Leicester

Fate.....that or lies, damn lies & statistics
