Leicestershire Villages

What most people know as Broughton Astley is actually two villages that grew into each other, the other being Primethorpe (near Sutton Elms) though i think they now have a single parish council and opperate as one.

Anybody know which is the biggest and the smallest?

In terms of physical size, population, qty of homes, qty of local amenities etc?

Obviously there could be a different answer to each one, just something I'm curious about.

Ibstock is the biggest village

albert village near us could be the smallest but not 100% sure

No its not. Earl Shilton is definitely the biggest village In Leicestershire and at various points has laid claim to be the largest village in England, although I doubt this. As for smallest village this is very difficult as it comes down to a hamlet with a church basically.

I'm pretty sure that a hamlet can belong to another villages parish, which would make Newton Burgerking a hamlet.

and i'd hazard a guess at Elmsthorpe or Aston Flamville for smallest

although i haven't got a clue

Aston Flamville is deffo a village and has a population of 150, you have that to beat
