What most people know as Broughton Astley is actually two villages that grew into each other, the other being Primethorpe (near Sutton Elms) though i think they now have a single parish council and opperate as one.

As an ex-Primethorper, I think there were actually three villages: Sutton In The Elms, Primethorpe & Broughton Astley. The expansion of the latter two led to them merging into one. At the time, the three areas were represented as three separate parts of the secondary school: Thomas, Estley and Thorpe.

I suppose the suburban sprawl has dissipated the competitiveness that existed in my day.

The 'village' is far too long now. At one point, it had 7 pubs which is pretty darn impressive for a village.
