In talks with Sheff Utd

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/8176735.stm

Sheffield United have opened contract negotiations with former Reading and England Under-21 striker Leroy Lita.

The 24-year-old was released by the Royals in June after four years with the Madejski Stadium side.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I've been in contact with his agent. It's a classic example of too many people talking for him.

"I'd like to think the kid could play his football and let the rest take care of itself, sadly it's never like that."

Lita has also recently been linked with a move to Leicester City and previously turned down the chance to move to Bramall Lane in January.

I guess he will go there and now we must look forward to another option

Why? I'm not saying that he may not go there but why is it a foregone conclusion?

Agreed, people seem to think Sheff Utd are as big an attraction as Real Madrid.

Sheff Utd got a big pile of Tevez compensation money burning a hole in their pocket. They've spent very well IMO, and could probably offer Lita a better financial package. I rate Lita, however I think it's clear he's money mad, so will go wherever the best pay packet is.

The way Lita is acting by considering his options and might even be waiting for Newcastle or Boro to offer him a contract, he like you said is all about the money but if he doesn't make his mind up soon and so close to the season starting he might end up with no club, serves him right then!!

So, put yourself in his boots.
You are a wanted striker, your career is a shortlived one, you have several options open to you.
Do you: - 1)Rush in and sign for the first club that spoke to you,
2) peruse all the differing offers before making your mind up.

Then do: - a) what's best for the club fans
b) what's best for you.

I think there are some on here that are very shortsighted.

It might be a case of him wanting to move to a specific club but cant sign for them until they offload somebody or he could be deciding on where he thinks will get to play the most or which club has the greatest ambitions.

Although, I suppose it is just easier to go back to the stereotype that all footballers are just after money.

Sorry but that is you. Its obvious what he should do. Sign for that big club Preston. :icon_lol:

Seriously though, I think you are right. Loads of people on here need glasses. :icon_wink

Not just footballers thats what people go to work for if i was offered four jobs doing the same thing but with different companies the wages would have a massive part to play in my decision

The project would also have an effect though if the wages were subjectively similar. If someone was paying you a little bit more but the work would be boring and lacked ambition then you may go to the company trying to push forward but on less money.

I completely agree but wages are always a massive pull whatever line of work you are in

Also the location would have an affect on which job you chose. For instance if you had one job offering you slightly less money but was based near where you already lived and another offering you more money but based at the opposite end of the country it wouldnt be a simple case of going for the better paid job.

As I said people just like to believe footballers are after money and money only

Obviously wages are important, but there are always other things that are just as important :icon_wink

All of which COULD point him towards signing for Sheffield United...
