£30-35m! Are they having a laugh?

Double it or **** off.

Don't bother doubling or trebling the offer, just **** off. The Arse' and their cohorts have kept this going throughout the transfer window and if this doesn't amount to an illegal approach for a player I don't know what does.

Arsenal or Chelsea simply saying they want Mahrez is not an illegal approach, no more than Ranieri saying he would love Messi to play for us would be.

Talking to the player or agent without permission is illegal, though difficult to prove, although everyone having a camera today makes it harder to cover up.

Not sure how it could be an illegal approach if they've actually made a formal bid ?

Surely it is an illegal approach if the club have not accepted the bid, if it has been made formally. Only after a bid has been accepted can the interested club 'legally' talk to the .player and/or agent.

And has anyone actually spoken to the player or agent? Talking to the papers isn't illegal. Mahrez's agent talking to the papers to raise the ante to get a new contract isn't either.

Teams probably aren't arsed anyway. Didn't Chelsea once get a transfer ban for tapping up which that wasn't a ban in the end?

If true it confirms my feeling that he's not got his heart in it at the minute. Have to hope he knuckles down and doesn't sulk until January and we end up having to take £25M to get shot of him.

Yes, it does sort of read as if there's a degree of reluctance on his part, but that could just be the journalist.

the press have been saying he's off for months now. The ITK experts that keep saying he's off keep changing which team he's definitely off to..... makes me suspect they know **** all. Sky sources understand is the most bollocks term spoken during transfer windows since time began. The papers have their own sources close to the club made up bullshit which is close.

So we are refusing to let him go as there is not sufficient time to get a replacement. He is contracted for another 3 years.

Big job needed by Ranieri, Morgan and the rest of the team to keep him focused and enthused so we get the best out of him.

Ranieri has to convince him that he is more likely to get offers acceptable to the club if he plays well, rather than sulking.

And he should sign the new contract. If he is staying he might as well double his money. Unless of course he is after a release clause, which the club would probably want to set north of £50million looking at amounts for Pogba and Stones.

He doesn't need focusing. He doesn't perform, he doesn't get a big contract move to a proper big club like Blackpool.
