If (and it's a big if) Neymar gets this move to PSG, maybe Mahrez feels like he could still the move he wants to Barcelona?

I doubt he would, but it might be in his head

He should get it into his head that one brilliant season doesn't mean that he's good enough to play for Barcelona.

Whereas no brilliant season is good enough for them to sign Coutinho?
Several very good seasons, with an improvement each season.

Less of a risk than an average season, followed by a brilliant season, followed by a disaster of a season.

As I've said before, Mahrez has done nothing to dispel the "one season wonder" he was cruelly labelled at the end of 15/16.

No one sane would rather Mahrez than Coutinho. Hence why there's a lot of noise about Barcelona wanting to sign Coutinho. The only noice about Barcelona and Mahrez seems to all be from Mahrez's end and his pipe dreams.

That's not true at all. He's pretty injury prone and disappears every bit as frequently as Mahrez in any given season.

Both players are brilliant on their day. Both have as many of those days.

The tide is currently in Coutinho's direction. If you'd asked neutral fans last season which player they'd have preferred, I'd suggest most would have said Mahrez.

Agreed.

True it could be that Coutinho is just in form and Mahrez, off form by comparison. At the end of the day a move isn't always positive. It's worked out pretty well for Kante so far, but Arsenal signed Perez when Vardy decided to stay at Leicester and he has flopped massively to the point where he wants out...... couldda been you JV.

The thing that would make most people (without a boner for Mahrez) choose Mahrez over Coutinho would be the lower price expected based on a poor season and saying he wants to leave (a few times). If money is no object then it shouldn't be in question which one you'd pick.

I'll admit I wasn't factoring in the comparative prices of each player; just a straight up choice.

Just reviewed their Squawka stats for the last two seasons.

Coutinho is better overall in terms of creativity and passing. About 10% higher than Mahrez in the average game.

Mahrez is much more accurate in terms of shooting, better at scoring goals and is miles superior in terms of work rate and supporting the defensive side.

Coutinho makes Mahrez look like Albrighton in terms of working for the team. It's interesting that some of the same people highly rating Coutinho, who patently does feck all for his team mates, are the same people that criticise Mahrez for not trying.

As for their reliability, here is Coutinho's injury record: http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/players/4063/philippe_coutinho_injury.html

And here is Mahrez's: http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/players/4347/riyad_mahrez_injury.html

It also just adds to my increasing feeling that we're massively under valuing Mahrez both as a player and in terms of his valuation.

Just got a Sky Sports notification that we have rejected a second bid from Roma for Mahrez of £27m

Fecking jokers they are aren't they? Still way off anything like acceptable

I hope the reply was an emoji.

Silly ****ers
