I think other clubs aren't coming in for him because his form did seem to drop, on that we can agree. They don't care about the reasons really, why should they, but I think we will see someone taking a £40m punt on him before the window closes and if successful, they will get a bargain (relatively speaking in this crazy market).

Hopefully they think that a whole new set of Serie A defenders won't have ever heard of him, won't have played against him before, won't have watched videos of him, and hence won't know how to nullify his threat.

I'm not doing any of those things, I'm trying to have a discussion.

It's hard when people bring out the emotive language just because not everybody thinks he's as good as he should be.

Why aren't there any clubs wanting to pick him up?

Are they also all being overly negative regarding him or are they watching him closely and seeing things that may match with my own viewpoint?
I think they are trying to bag a bargain imo

Yes, they will because the videos of him in that season now exist.

Are you deliberately misunderstanding or should I include a diagram?

Well I feel privileged.

My question is this...do you believe that opposition managers in the 15/16 season didn't see his talent throughout the season and try to get their teams to be more aware of him and mark him more closely? Do you think they said "don't worry about marking him closely this season boys, lets wait for next season"?

Clearly not. There was no difference in the point you mentioned between the 15/16 season and the 16/17 season. He was treated no differently by opposition teams.

Yes ok there's many reasons (as you accurately went through) as to why he didn't reach the heights of 15/16 last season. But please don't give me this same old bollocks about the awareness of opposition defenders.
Towards the end of that season he was marked out of games the difference was that everyone else stepped up to the plate

I'm sorry but you're barking up the wrong tree there.

Surely if what you said above was the case for Mahrez, it would be the case for every footballer. How is it that some footballers can perform year in year out? Is there no video footage of those players? Do the opposition only play against these players once and then just disappear off the face of the earth?

Non argument.
No, but then I didn't say that either.

Not all players are the same. Perhaps some take longer to adjust or adapt their game than others. It's really not complicated.

I can't be bothered trying to explain it to you anymore, you've made your mind up about him and are not open to any other concept.

I hasten to add that the defending against him was only one small point in a myriad of others I made about him.

I know. And the rest were absolutely valid, as I mentioned already.

I picked you up on the most ridiculous one, mainly because you referenced me.

Roma trying it on thinking that any fee to us is nearly all profit.
Mahrez is on a long contract. No need to sell.
Mahrez has to put himself in the shop window with some outstanding performances if he is going to attract his 'big club'.

Danny Murphy on MoTD when asked about Mahrez's future:

'He's too good for Leicester now...'

What a ****ing spunk bubble.

He also said he's been excellent recently, which means you can take his shitty opinions on who's too good for us with a pinch of salt.

Having said that, when you see is playing Matty James and bumbling through games like we're running in mud then I agree that he needs to leave.

I've said for a while that we aren't good for him and he's not really good for us (until today)

I'm trying to be neutral with that, but it's a really disrespectful thing to say - has everyone totally forgotten that we did win the league??

What a load of tosh!

Are all teams supposed to be full of equal ability players?

Is Pogba too good for Manure?
Is Coutinho too good for Liverpool?
Is Kane too good for Spurs?

That was the first time in a year that Mahrez has played as well as he did in the season we won the league. Great to see him back on form and enjoying himself.

As for Matty James, I can't understand the negativity. He's already better than Drinkwater was for most of last season.

If we get £25 t0 £30 million for Drinky we should take it.

Drinkwater is overrated by our fans who cannot accept he's only had 1 good season in the prem

Drinkwater is our best central midfielder. He started last season as one of best players and then picked up an injury. To help the side he played the rest of the season with the injury. In our premiership winning season he was incredible. If we get him back fit with confidence he will be a superb player.
