Anyone been?

I'm looking at going early April as a bit of a surprise for the mrs's birthday.

We're still both in our 20's (just :icon_bigg) and having done some reading it appears it's not the place young couples go to. That said i'm not fussed about partying all night etc.

I am looking at staying in St Pauls Bay.

Please don't throw really expensive hotel recommendations etc at me, as it will only be a short break.

At the minute, I can book return flights, 3 nights B&B and return taxi transfers for as little as £85 each.

don't forget to lobby their government about their disgraceful policies on shooting migrating birds

Cheers MK, will try and find time to take up that point with Lawrence Gonzi.

I hate to be a killjoy, but this is what Malta means to me. Despicable.

I hate to be a killjoy...

Don't feel ashamed, I'd like to thank MK and yourself for highlighting this disgusting carry on. I had no notion that this was happening.

If I was planning on visiting Malta, I certainly would not now that I know this and I'd let their tourism department know that I'd changed my mind about supporting their economy because of this.

Just saying like.:icon_wink

i've been, it's very anglophilic and it's usually quite warm

Valetta makes for a good day out

went to Bugibba, it's nice enough, relaxed and a bit Brits-in-the-med. there isn't much in terms of a beach there...we took the bus to Mellieha Bay and the mahoosive beach there, well worth going

also went to the aquapark just to the east of there, good fun if you can sweat out a bus ride

it's not 18-30 territory, you don't get people conga-ing down the street at 3am

Thanks DV

Do you have anything to add with regards to the 'bird' situation. It could swing whether I go or not.

you mean the killing of migratory birds? :)

or you being with your bird?

if you mean the latter, it's tough to say how she'll be as i don't know her...

i was happy going round the pubs at night and didn't even look for a nightclub. can't say that i saw one either...

hmm googling, there are lots of clubs about 6 miles away in St Julians
http://www.malta-info.co.uk/nightlife/paceville_bars-clubs.html

so maybe a taxi there and back if you're looking to have a messy and loud one
