Every change is alien to the players until you make it.

Sane is injured.

I wasn't predicting their line up, just using their names to illustrate their formation.

Man City are very regimented, inflexible, predictable and they overplay. Their defence is poor and their central midfield is weak.

If you let them have the ball unchallenged and let them piss about in the final third, they'll beat almost anyone. The key is to disrupt them and then their whole house of cards collapses.

The last person to play this way in the top flight was Ardiles at Spurs. They scored plenty but everyone eventually cottoned on that they couldn't defend for shit. The fact that teams haven't countered Guardiola yet is a damning endictment of the quality of managers nowadays.

I cannot see how Puel would even contemplate taking Mahrez to Manchester.

It would be such a media distraction and I can see no way of how it will affect Man City adversely rather than us, so there is absolutely no advantage to him being there. Morgan should be there to gee up the troops, but not Mahrez. What could he possibly contribute that would have a beneficial effect on our game?

Tell him to go home after training and watch it on Sky tomorrow.

I don't envy anyone that decision. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. It's going to be a tough call.

When dealing with anyone bar an 'emotionally sensitive' person, you might well say 'no' (and a professional would accept that) .... but doing so in this case could lead to the dummy being spat even further out.

Of course, Mahrez may not be in for training at all. There might be no intention whatsoever, on Mahrez's behalf nor the club's, of Mahrez going to the game tomorrow - in any capacity. He may just be at the club today to talk with Rudkin, Puel, etc with a view to starting afresh on Monday. It is difficult for us to know with any degree of certainty.

Stick him on the bench and don't use him.

For what purpose?

I’d rather put someone on the bench that’s fit because they haven’t missed training for 10 days, and who we might actually bring on should we need to.

So he can achieve his dream of being on the bench at Man City, obviously. Once he's achieved his dream he can start playing for us again.

I’m sure he’s fit enough to play. I doubt he’s been on the couch gorging on pizza and beer for 10 days. For purely football reasons he should start - even with 10 days off he’s still our best player. Whether he deserves to be involved or not is another question.
