She's signed it with his name and not hers.

That's a letter sent to somebody who has resigned, not to somebody you've just sacked.

Farcical.

She really has to go as her position is completely untenable now and she holds no credibility whatsoever.

The only thing is that it just keeps on getting worse and worse with each PM that is quite worrying who we could end up with when she does get turfed out.

There has to be a general election ASAP.

****ing hell, she walked out after four questions cos she was getting hammered

Magnificent stuff

That was hilarious. Pork markets looking like a great speech by comparison

Jeremy Hunt was so quick to avoid reporters when he got home this afternoon that he ran inside and locked his wife out of the house

This is ****ing comedy gold

Unless you have a mortgage, obviously …….

****ing hell, only just caught the press conference and that has to be one of the worst ever.

Carefully looking around trying to pick out the favourable journalists who just spear her straight away.

Giant pause before answering as if she is an old jukebox finding the record/CD that has just been selected.

And then runs off after 3 or 4 questions before the likes of The Guardian or The Mirror could really crucify her.

Even if a comedy show was created, the PM in it wouldn't be as terrible as this.

Me watching the presser then tuning into lbc to listen to the Tory members calling in.

I am reminded of Jeremy Thorpe's comment on Harold Macmillan having sacked a third of his cabinet "Greater love hath no man than that he lay down his friends to save himself."

Liz Truss will probably survive in the next few weeks. However, the real test will come with a byelection in the Conservative heartland. Macmillan was badly damaged by the Orpington byelection. The overthrow of Mrs Thatcher was a slow process but it began with the Eastbourne byelection. Nothing concentrates the mind of MPs than the thought of losing their seat.

It'd be hideously amusing if we weren't in the middle of a financial & economic car crash.

Does kind of serve to demonstrate how pointless the modern political process is though. They sit there, trampling all over each other to achieve power & when they get there they have no ideas about what to do beyond broken anachronistic ideas.
Decades of selling the country's assets off has left them with virtually no control over everyday reality. All they really control is taxation & of course all that means is screwing people who are already stretched to breaking point even further as they're incapable of taking money from the people who sponsor them.

Laughable. How can you come in singing in unison & backing the same policies publicly, sending a message that this is a team effort...& then sack the other bloke for doing what you said was your idea?

I struggle to see how even one person could vote for that in an election & yet people obviously will.

The idea that these clueless ****s actually run anything is the real joke. Middle management is all they are & have been for 2 generations now. Banks & big business run this country & most of them are based elsewhere.

Yep. I think what this latest shitshow has demonstrated quite clearly is that it really doesn't matter who is in charge any more. Clueless ****s or clever clots are basically just puppets

Best not to try to step outside the lines either. God knows what might happen.

Possibly you'd be sabotaged by 2 thirds of your own party as well as the combined might of the press, forced into oblivion, sidelined without a party whip & painted as a racist (despite all evidence pointing to the contrary) Ample reward for over 3 decades of public service so free of scandal that even the gutter tabloids couldn't find any dirt & were clearly amazed by the fact.

Good job the above is only hypothetical. It'd be really dispiriting if something like that actually happened...

Corbyn was every bit as incompetent as Johnson or Truss. There were many very reasonable challenges to him that he was completely incapable of handling. He was totally unsuited to leading an opposition, let alone a country.

He was also in the pocket of his own set of ideological loons.

We are where we are because the Tory doning press didn't like the way Ed Milliband ate a bacon sandwich.
