I am reminded of Jeremy Thorpe's comment on Harold Macmillan having sacked a third of his cabinet "Greater love hath no man than that he lay down his friends to save himself."

Liz Truss will probably survive in the next few weeks. However, the real test will come with a byelection in the Conservative heartland. Macmillan was badly damaged by the Orpington byelection. The overthrow of Mrs Thatcher was a slow process but it began with the Eastbourne byelection. Nothing concentrates the mind of MPs than the thought of losing their seat.
Any idea when the next by-election will be in a seat at present held by the Tories? Whenever though, many don't even think she'll last that long. Many commentators keep mumbling "another 17 days".

Corbyn was every bit as incompetent as Johnson or Truss. There were many very reasonable challenges to him that he was completely incapable of handling. He was totally unsuited to leading an opposition, let alone a country.

He was also in the pocket of his own set of ideological loons.
I'm not going to get into a discussion on JC's merits or lack thereof. That wasn't my point. It's just that he serves as a perfect example of what happens to anyone who tries to deviate from the accepted norms & offer anything other than adherence to business as usual.

It was less about him personally than about sending a message to younger faces on the left of the party that any attempt to champion anything perceived as being even close to socialist policies would end up with you being sent to the stocks with a swastika tattooed on your forehead. You have been warned.

I'm at a loss to to be honest.

What the actual **** is it going to take to make people realise that the current model isn't just not working but that it can't ever work.
Food banks FFS !
Two weeks to see a GP, waiting lists at hospitals a mile long
40% of universal credit claimants being people who are actually in work
Zero hours
Almost very job available being some agency shite with no security & no rights
House prices at levels that many can't ever reasonably expect to afford & rents through the roof.

The UN used to use having to pay more than 25% of your income for the roof over your head as one of the indicators of poverty. Currently in the UK it's higher than that in every region. For single people it's over 30%. In London it's over 35%.
My dentist is still in Anstey because every time I've moved in the last 10 years the ones nearest me have told me to **** off as they don't take new NHS patients.
Endless cuts to services & more to come as council budgets get squeezed (again)
I've paid income tax, rates & council tax for 40 ****ing years to fund services that aren't there now that I'm in need of them.

Is my pension even going to be there when I go to collect it in just over 9 years time?

I should've just bought a ****ing Krugerrand on new years day every year for the last 40 years instead.

Just exactly how long are people going to fall for "it's all cuz of immergrants & scroungers innit mate?"

How ****ing long?

Well, apparently Farage is on GB News every week.

The spoilt little rich boy **** who used to go on the piss with the National Front leadership in the 70s is the voice of the ****ing people now apparently.

This country is a sick bucket that needs to be emptied, washed out & used to hold something else.

She is royally, completely, spectacularly ****ED.

The only thing she was able to point to was the help with energy bills which wasn’t really help in the long term. Even that’s been dialled back.

Bring on the general election!

After watching this in the HoC, I think she's gone tonight. Probably wrong, but I can't see how she can stay after bottling turning up to answer questions, so I think she's a gonner.

That’s how I see it too.

She looks weak as well as incompetent now, like the grown ups have had to step in and clear up her mess.

Was she on the phone to Ukraine? It's the usual excuse to distract.

Suella, the horrible ****, is gone. Dressed up as an honest mistake regarding emails but clearly not the whole story.
