*Update*

Having got some really good help and advice from a broker we’re going to be able to go ahead with the planned move. Things moving again with our sale and we got a mortgage application in last night ahead of moving into the new place next spring.

Massively relieved.
Nice one ted. I run my own business, so normally have to go to a financial advisor, as wages/earnings don't often work in a standard way. I found the same as you, in that they were really helpful and got me sorted pretty easily, when we last moved.

We used a company that specialises in new builds this time but we’ve gone to Thomas Nicholas at Pera in town before for various things and they are phenomenally helpful and knowledgeable.

Just speaking to someone with a bit of composure helps :042:

Expect the markets to go mental yet again as Truss declares (or just straight up lies) that they won’t be cutting public spending to fund tax cuts at PMQs.

After Kwarteng apparently wrote to departments to tell them to you know, start finding cuts.

They'll just call them efficiency savings (or similar), deny they're cuts and expect people to swallow it.

Of course, anyone looking for growth would think about addressing all the labour shortages and strangulation of exports… but no we can’t do that because it’s not really “growth growth growth” it’s “Brexit Brexit Brexit”

Or legalise weed and tax it. Nope can’t do that either

Or use windfall taxes to embark on a programme of insulation and new green technology. Nope

So what are the growth policies? Unfunded tax cuts that make the markets shit a brick

Bravo you economically illiterate cockwombles

Surely not.

Surely it’s better to style yourself as a bastard rather than inept?

Imagine the people that have changed their plans, tried to adapt or even lost out on stuff in the last month of chaos and uncertainty, only for a u turn.

They’ll have a ****ing hard job pinning this on the woke but I can already picture the headlines in The Express and The Heil if they do row back on the budget.

All over the shop, it appears.

Christ, the government are in an even worse state than Leicester City FC.

She's that shite that people will eventually forget all about the pork markets speech.

But...but, I was always told the country was only safe in Tory hands
Allardyce never gets relegated. Only a lunatic would think Trump could actually win. Teresa May will increase the Tory majority massively in 2017. Etc.

People believe all sorts of shite that they really shouldn't.

We all know that the 70s are a vision of hell that we never want to live through again & that the 80s were the great renaissance & a golden age.

But if you look at "growth" as these twats keep spouting, the 80s were not much better than the 70s. Unemployment went into overdrive & industries were closed down. There was barely ANY growth as measured against GDP across the entire decade. Everything was funded by flogging off anything that wasn't nailed down to the private sector.

This lot don't have a massive pile of state assets to sell off so how the **** are they going to make it work? It's all shite. Supply side economics is a proven failure for over 40 years & yet it still has traction. Why? Because the ****ing rich are the only ones who benefit from it & they can afford to pay to make sure it still gets discussed & advocated for. News channels & newspapers don't tend to be run by anyone other than billionaires after all.

Safe in their hands? What annoys me most is that it's so easy now to actually check the facts & yet people don't. They carry on believing bullshit received wisdom & platitudes.

I suspect the whole reason for the carefully managed mistrust of facts & "experts" & the explosion of nutjob conspiracy theories in recent years is actually because information is so freely available. They want people to not trust it so they won't look it up.

I mean apparently the whole "austerity" thing was supposedly to bring down the national debt. By 2019, just before Covid, it had gone up 75% So that worked well then.

Bunch of ****s.

Spectacular.

Saw a quote from an MP saying that they’re ‘in lock step’ only this morning.

I thought everything she wanted to do revolved around having him as Chancellor?

They’ve got to get rid of her.

Maybe they are and Liz is going to sack herself live at the press conference, we can only hope.
