thank god he's English....if he was a Zimbabwe U19 we'd never get 2million
Not reading 16 pages of the thread but do we know why this has happened a few days before the start of the season?
If he'd have done this on July the 1st then fair enough.
Having looked into what's been going on at the WBA end, it appears as though:
Albion lost their left back Robinson somewhat suddenly and surprisingly.
A few days ago, Albion enquired about Mattock as a replacement and were knocked back by NP.
Albion 'innocently' mention this to Mattocks Agent describing how they've got all this cash sitting there doing nothing that could easily go to player and Agent if they can get themselves out of City.
Agent on phone to Mattock like lightning and Mattock on phone to Mandy. Agent also touting his player to other clubs including F****t.
NP goes ballistic and says 'what a c***, time to get rid'.

We need a striker more than a left back - so i'm not fussed. McGivern in on loan, Berner starts v Swansea. O'Neill plays there if necessary - he can do it and he's a quality prospect who's also represented his country.
use the 2 million on a really decent striker who's not in his 30's and bob's your uncle.
Oh, yeah, and sit Howard on the right wing for the Kick of v West Brom. Wellens lobs it up out left from the kick off.......and we all know what happens next.

The thing with this is that we all know Mattock is overated, fair enough. However its his potential that makes this a huge loss.
Being bled through with first team football and England call-ups could have turned him into a quality player, hes only 19 remember.
There is no excuse for him to leave for another club in the same league with similar ambitions to us. Pathetic.
I totally agree this is why we have been robbed!!!!
Delph 6million Mattock 1-2million absolute joke!?

Iv heard its less than that, i imagine we will never find out the exact sum. Hes in the last year of his contract though so it was never going to be very high.
Weve been robbed.
accepting a bid from West Brom which could earn the club up to £2m.
So is Delph 3-4 times as good as Mattock on probable transfer price?

It will probably be an 'undisclosed fee'. That way they won't have to tell us that they accepted next to fcuk all for him.
Albion are set to swoop for England under-21 left-back Joe Mattock after agreeing a fee of more than £1million with Leicester.
The Baggies are set to open talks with the teenager, after he hit the Foxes with a transfer request to force through a move to the Hawthorns.
Albion had enquired about Mattock in recent weeks but the deal looked to be dead, only to return to the agenda late yesterday after the teenager forced the issue by requesting a move.
They wasted no time in agreeing a fee, which will remain undisclosed by the clubs.
Mattock’s move is expected to be completed in the next few days, but not in time to figure in tomorrow’s opening Championship match against Newcastle at the Hawthorns.
