May only be the first game, but....

got big worries. Of course it's the only the first game of the season and there's plenty of time to improve but the defence was very shaky, the midfield offered nothing, and only Fryatt was trying up front. All in all it was a pretty dreadful performance, our two full backs were getting skinned nearly everytime and couldn't cope from set pieces, Williams apart from the free kick did nothing but give it away, the only positive point would be perhaps Kenton who i thought did ok. Must get better boys!

...agree with most of that although i thought Williams was one of our better players.

Hume was awful. I'd have replaced him with O'Grady at half time.

The more I think about our performance the worse it seems..we were woeful.

There just wasn't any pace, invention, anything to get excited about, this season is gonna be one hell of a slog. What astounded me was the optomism shown by lots of City fans this summer, the question has to be asked why? There's been no wholesale changes to the squad apart from losing our best midfielder and I don't blame Rob Kelly at all, his hands are tied financially. It's about time some City fans accept what we are and going to be for sometime, an average Championship side at best.

All of that is true, but none of it excuses the poor performance.

11 professional footballers should still play better than that.

Even if:

a) They have never met before
b) They don't have a manager

Woeful

Don't agree as Kelly has admitted already that he inherited a very good squad, also he has been able to sign 4 new players and yet has failed to identify the need to sign a left back or left winger, if Kelly rightly takes credit for the turnaround last season then he has to take responsibility for performances this season.

I believe that most fans this season would accept improvement and a top half finish, I don't think many fans are putting Kelly under pressure to win promotion, but he has to take responsibility along with the players for what was today a truly woeful and inept performance, by both the players and the management team.

Early days but I just wonder about RK's dealings in the transfer market although he did have to make do with Freebies

To be honest, when we hired Kelly my main worry was that I wasn't sure how good he'd be in the transfer market, I believed that would be what let him down.

It's way too early to judge that I think though, and I'm willing to put the fact that we didn't get new left sided players like we needed due to budget constraints rather than his abilty to find players. I am worried that out of his signings, the 2 most important ones are the midfielders (J.Low and AJ), and one of them doesn't even get a place on the bench, and for me the other one was very unimpressive today. However, I do think AJ will prove to be a good signing, and Kenton did well today as well..

at least RK has said "he seen where the problem is" ,yeah so did we
Did he say what that problem was?

The problem was the useless shower of shite he sent out to represent Leicester City Football Club.

Agreed but it was clearly obvious that we needed a left back and a left midfielder and there were players available on free's for those positions, we havent actually had a specialist left back in the side for pretty much 12 months apart from a handful of games when Sheehan and Gilbert were given a go, and yet he has deemed it necessary to sign 2 centre halves when to be honest we possibly had enough strength in that area already at the club.

I do find it baffling that we have not yet addressed either left sided positions bear in mind on the left of midfield we signed 2 loanees to try and solve the problem and yet throughout the summer we have failed to sign a left back or left midfielder, I do find it concerning and pretty inept TBH.
