If a player deserves to get stick then fair enough, but when the first two goals come from shitty passes to a player who hasn't got long enough legs to reach it(Oakley one-though he did fall over, the lummox. And Wellens the second) and then it leads to the goal, it never fails to amaze me how one player gets abuse and the other player for almost the exact same thing doesn't.
That said, both times the ball SHOULD'VE been cleared from the box, but wasn't.
Whether we played well or not wasn't the issue for me today. The standard of referring was.
It was absolutely abysmal and by far the worst ref I have seen this season. Though perhaps being from up near that neck of the woods accounts for his blatant bias in almost all the decisions he made today.
Our players were being hacked down all over the place but he hardly gave any free kicks, let alone brandish any yellow cards at Boro players that seemed to appear all too quickly in his hands when it came to our lot. All the crucial moments happened up the other end of the pitch so will need to see them again properly, but it certainly looked a good penalty appeal from Yakubu, and another one later on by Kamara.
Their penalty: Well it looked as though our lads were claiming it was the shoulder not the hand, but how close range the shot was to the body that got in the way....justice was done with the penalty save imo.
And Bruma shouldn't have showed dissent, but how pisspoor the ref was I can understand him venting his annoyance.
As for Bruma himself, I don't like him.:icon_sad: I think we look more shaky at the back with him there.
Kamara however I thought did well today, was full of running, chased after the ball and put himself about. Supported Yak well and it was a pity he couldn't be on the scoresheet( it amazed me that Yakubu was one of our worst players first half-alongside Oakley and the anonymous Gallagher yet he has the hat-trick and Kamara who did well, not a sniff of a goal!)
I don't like Gally playing where he did first half, he was like he wasn't on the pitch, so it was strange second half that when he was more involved in the game he was subbed for Abe, I was sure Sven would take Oakley off instead.
I'm gutted tbh we couldn't hold out for the three points, and it felt like we lost. But I guess I can take a grain of comfort that I'm not a Middlesbrough fan, a dump of a town with a ground in an industrial park, and they are so shite that even with the ref on their side and playing against 10 men they still couldn't win!(Oh and their ground looks like a red version of The Rickety- no fans and soulless!!)
