Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2016 rumours thread

£11m in itself isn't bad for Schlupp. Maybe if we can eek out £13m..... or £11m with add-ons or something.

Clearly not. We've already signed his replacement.

Go on....

I'd be sad to see him go, but to be fair he would waltz into any team in bottom half and he will probably struggle at City for games.

Ibe is the market set as far as I'm concerned. He should cost more than him. (15M)

I notice there are no quotes from either player or manager in that article so who the heck knows what (if anything) was said between them.

Would be disappointed to see him leave as you rarely see a player with as much pace and power at his age and he has the bonus of being able to play a number of positions.

Gray and Mahrez are by far our most exciting wingers but you can't deny that Albrighton and Schlupp provide a hell of a lot more cover and for that he's worth keeping imo.

We've got a lot of games to come this year and need to adapt to different styles. To have someone like Schlupp as back up to call upon is a pretty good option.

Keep unless the player really wants to go for more regular first team football and certainly shouldn't go for any less than £15m at today's rates.

The commentator in the Broghton game earlier said that Newcastle had bid £6 Million for Knockaert and that Brighton are holding out for 10 Million.

The transfer market is officially completely insane.

Let me get this straight. 11 (Eleven!) and a half MILLION Great British pounds for Schlupp. Jeffrey Schlupp. The same Jeffrey Schlupp who plays (sometimes) for Leicester City...... and we may not deem this enough? Football is officially ****ed beyond repair isn't it?

It's our fault really. Barbara off league of gentlemen spent the season before last moaning about our big spending. We then won the league last year so everyone thinks it's spending big that wins the game.

11 million for Schlupp makes waaaaaay more sense than potentially 10 million for Knockaert. But yes, football has ****ed itself beyond repair.

That being said, if Ibe - a bit-part reserve player who has shown very little, if anything at all, at first team level commands a few of 15 million then 11 for Jeff is a bargain. Yes, I am saying that at this stage of their respective careers Schlupp is a better player than Ibe.

Insanity. They could get Heskey for that

And that's the point really. Schlupp is, currently, a much more experienced and proven player than Ibe and he went for ****ing stupid money.

Similar to Mahrez and Sterling.

Jeff has pace and power in abundance and that alone makes him a real threat, however his end product, composure and footballing know how are somewhat lacking, he will be no more than back up this season and with the emergence of Gray and the signing of Kaputska his opportunities are only going to be more limited. I very much doubt his exit is being driven by the club, but more likely by Schlupp's desire for regular first team football.

Always sad to see a player leave who has been part of a successful squad and who has contributed to our success over the last 3 or 4 seasons, but we have moved to a new level and unfortunately along this journey players will move on and we will look to upgrade, £12m is an excellent fee.

Knockaert was doing things that Schlupp could only dream of in the game last night. He's better technically, he is more intelligent with his play and he's actually gained a fair bit of pace.

I don't know how I feel about this really.

I love a bit of Jeff Schlupp. He's been an excellent player for us, covering various roles and adding pace and power from the bench time and again.

If we need the cash because we intend to spend further on two or three more big signings, so be it. If this is our squad this season, losing Schlupp from it will weaken us which makes no sense.

I'd be sad to see Schlupp go.

I realise there's better players in the squad (although we're yet to see Kapustka) but Schlupp has been with us through a lot and worked hard throughout and been a useful player in that time.

I'd like him to stay, get his one crack at CL with us, then move on in Jan or end of the season if he doesn't get any games

The fact he's out of today's squad means he's off though I think

I think he's a really good impact sub. He scares the hell out of me defensively, but, even if there are "better" players in our squad, he offers a real threat when coming off the bench against tiring players.

He may not be happy with this role and the club may value circa £12m as a decent return for a player in this role, but I like him in our squad.

He's definitely one of those players that you'll keep an eye on as a City fan no matter which club he ends up at. Really hope he succeeds and wish him nothing but the best. Credit too for wanting regular football.

I've really enjoyed him. Not something I can say for a lot of former players (if I had been forced to watch Konchesky got a single game more I may have lost my marbles completely).

Just saw Knockaert's input in Brighton's third goal vs Forest and he has gained huuge amounts of pace - probably the single biggest thing that stopped him from becoming a brilliant player.

I watched the game and wished we had never got rid.
