Speculation Motown's hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Summer 2017 rumours thread

The success we gained with players like Simpson, Vardy, Mahrez, Huth etc has nothing to do with what I said.

My problem is with the opposite - spending ludicrous money on players with a great goal scoring record/hot prospect/next big thing and rarely making it work.

Surely someone sees the sense in what I'm saying. It's like Arsenal with their injury record. I mean, how many players have we signed that were seen to be "marquee " signings have actually done well for us in the last 5-6 years?

Thing is with Krammytits....anyone with half a brain could watch his goals on YouTube at the club before us and think he might not be as successful in a league where defenders occasionally stand within 20 yards of a striker. It was a gamble, it didn't pay off. **** knows how he has scored goals in Germany though.

Kramaric, Kaputska, Lawrence, Gray, Musa

Five of the six you mentioned. Not one of them could be described as "marquee" signings

Last season aside, our transfer business over recent years has been absolutely out of this world.

We won the Premier League FFS

Read again - I said "the next big thing" as well.

All I'm saying is that I reckon Gray/Slimani/Kramaric would have done much better elsewhere - with Kramaric I was right - previous to us Slim was electric at Sporting.

What counts as a marquee signing all depends on how easily you pitch a tent over signing a player. Can't say I was excited by any of those. Gray I thought was good and may become better, the moose I thought may settle at some point. Kaputska Kaputska Kuputska-ya-ya looked great in the euros, but so have many before him. Didn't give much of a shit about Lawrence now or then. Krammytits was a gamble.

It seems Homer and City fan should have gone to Specsavers. It's not only marquee or big signings, it's players who apparently we've fought hard to buy, or have been mentioned to be "wonder kids." Yes a lot of these so called wonder kids don't every live up to their potential. Equally I feel that if Alli had come to Leicester he wouldn't have become anywhere near as he has.

It's a forum. Entitled to my opinion. I believe that we can't handle "big" singings, "hot prospects" or anyone with any sort of future hype. If Slim leaves Leicester, you'll see exactly what I mean. Same if Gray ever leaves.

I think you play too much Football Manager.

We're all entitled to an opinion.

Such a shame you've started to abuse those who disagree with yours

Hot prospect and relatively big signing Ndidi seems to have done alright

We have done much better than most with signings over the past 5 years or so.

For every win there is a lose. We can only play 11 so over 10 prospects are going to be disappointed.

We gained promotion, then the great escape, then won the league, then escaped a relegation battle yet only turned up for 20% of the season.

Almost universally a settled team is successful with the addition of momentum, the great escape was followed by winning the league, all attributable at least in part to momentum and a settled team.

The best and most successful teams (season after season) win by playing the same team WOW and adjusting by only 1pr 2 players, wholesale changes are generally a disaster.

We have done fantastically.
