New ex-players (and managers) thread

Makes me sad that Andy King never got a proper send off here.

Club legend. Was one of my favourite players, especially through our worst years and then of course the wonder years that came after.
Absolutely. And as a Welshman seeing him also become a 50 cap player and part of the first team to qualify in multiple generations was very special. The man who had open top bus tours in Leicester, Thailand and Cardiff in 2016!

Early in his career when he played that number 10 role, particularly under Sven from what I remember, he seemed to me like he could be a Lampard type, with his biggest skill his timed runs into the box.

It's not really a modern 10 role. He isn't skillful enough for that, and I think his role was transitioned because that role has already stated to adapt in style.

But I agree, that was his biggest attribute and he got moved away from it.

Yes, I remember in the 2010/11 season when he scored 15 goals thinking we wouldn't be able to keep hold of him.

If the hierarchy are looking for a Birch replacement & think Vardy might be a touch too abrasive for the role, look no further.

I’m watching the Oxford play off semi final and just realised the man of the match and only goal scorer was our ex youth team player Elliott Moore. My Oxford supporting mate is disappointingly unimpressed by my knowledge.

Late to the party in saying it. Here’s the one that sticks in my memory. Leyton Orient v Leicester City. League 1. September 2008. Chips were down. 1-1 was the score. I had almost lost my voice cheering City on to score a winner. Matty Fryatt popped up with a goal to make it 1-2 in the 87 minute but we were still nervous. Andy King made it 1-3 in stoppage time to put it beyond any doubt. League 1, the Championship, The Premier League. 3 titles, 1 club. Well done Andy King. What a ride!

For me winning league 1 was just as good as what followed. It isn't the journey that matters but the people you share the journey with.

Keep on dreaming everyone.

That goal against Everton in the Premiership winning season was a thing of pure joy and emotion.

Harry Kane subbed when on the way to a Champions League final….then his team go all Spursy with him off the pitch…..
