TalkShite saying Potter not getting back on the horse straight away so won't be coming here now.

I suspect that Potter will take a break as did Eddie Howe so he might not be available for about 15 months. He has just had a huge pay-off and has mentioned how much the criticism has affected his mental health.

Mark Robins for me.

Rafa or Bielsa seem most like the "come in and do a job til summer" options to me.

But if we get 4 points from the next 2 we'll probably see Stowell until the end of the season...

The guy who literally refused to take the Everton job and suggested taking over the U21s until next season. Yeah, sounds like an option

****ing Bielsa.

We can't ****ing defend as it is so what's the point of bringing in a bloke who doesn't even believe in it ?

Fact is the board have ****ed everything up so thoroughly that we're reduced to scouting the dole queue for anyone who can make it to the KP under their own steam.

Meanwhile the bloke who should have had the job months ago is looking like taking a year off to consider his options.

We're in desperate roll-of-the-dice hail mary land & it should never have come to this. We're run by ****s without a vestige of a plan who were so weak they allowed themselves to be dominated by a mercenary shitcunt for 2 years.

We are ****ed.

The board are an absolute ****ing disgrace

We are ****ed.
I think we've a glimmer of hope, albeit a tiny glimmer.

Our trousers were down, and we were bending over, but sacking Rodgers has offered us the chance to claw at our kecks and haul them up just enough to give us the smallest amount of time to manoeuvre ourselves away. I still think we're on for a ramming but we don't need to close our eyes just yet.

That said, I can't watch this evening. I'll follow on teletext, or whatever the modern equivalent is. Porn hub?

So, apparently....

Potter has never been an option. His staff are still contracted to Chelsea and the payout would be too big. He also wants to take a break.

Rafa is also apparently a no go.

Who next...

Would anyone be against Big Sam?

Sky Sports say we're yet to approach anyone, but Top is flying in today. Interim appointment is most likely with the club's long term options - Potter, Frank, Kompany and Carrick - all unlikely to come before the summer.

I would take any of them long term.

Shame the club have ****ed up the short term

I've been in support of a short term appointment of Allardyce for ages now.

The problem is we've probably left it too late. He could easily sort us out but it doesn't happen overnight. With the Man City game, in a few days it becomes a 7 game season.

We appear to be predictably clueless. Clowns.

An interim manager you say....

Again I do not think the board wanted Rodgers to leave hence there being no plan of a successor in place. BR jumped to avoid a relegation on his CV and probably caught the board by surprise IMO. Despite our situation I still see this as a massive positive to move the club forward, and I realise many will not see it that way

If Stowell and Co can perform a miracle then great we retain our premiere league status, this is however, is unlikely but not impossible, we are placed with two choices, we go for an established proven manager or we take a punt on a young up and coming one like Robins for example.

Either way both choices should be made at the end of season and bringing in a fire fighter with 9 games to go would cost a fortune and is likely to fail. Hopefully the chairman is speaking to Potter and assuring him the job is his should he want it in the Summer regardless of what league we are in. The future must be a positive one and a rebuilding of our culture and ethos is required, I am confident the financial backing will still be there irrespective of what league we start in.

Reports suggests that Brendan was in on Sunday morning with the players to go over the defeat at Palarse, that would clearly suggest he wasn't a) expecting the sack and b) about to jump?

The way I interpreted the reports (I think John Percy's was mostly what led me to this theory...) is that the board had a discussion with Rodgers on Sunday which wasn't necessarily planned to sack him but discuss the way forwards - and then the outcome of that was both parties deciding it's best to end it now (hence the mutual consent)

At least that's the way I'm seeing it. Could be well off base, but explains things like why Rodgers took the Sunday morning session and why Top wasn't around to do it in person.

There isn't a meaningful board at City. Aiyawatt is Chairman but the King Power board make the important decisions. Aiyawatt is just a minority shareholder.

As the Chairman and his older brother were getting wankered in Bangkok whilst we were losing on Saturday, we probably had to wait for them to sober up and find out the score before talking to their family.

King Power then sacked him. Nobody over here has any authority to do anything. Rodgers was canned from Thailand. There was nothing mutual about it.
