Why would we pay £200k for an out of contract player?

That's what I thought. But then I checked and found that he signed a three-year contract with Hull in July 2007 - which my previous reporting of him having signed a pre-contract agreement bollocks. I am nevertheless sure that there is an agreement, but it is clear that Hull City must also be party to it and that it is not the normal pre-contract agreement that is signed with a soon-to-be-out-of-contract player.

I always thought it was a loan move with a view to a permanent signing. In other words, we have first option on signing him.
