If you thought Momo was bad, then I would be very interested on your opinion what you thought of our onfield spectator by the name of Williams. So talented but so not committed to anything. I live in Nott'm and the Trees fans told we would be lucky to get more than 3 good games out of him in a season. Still waiting for the other 2, but can we afford to wait.

Maybe it's a thing about right w(h)ingers - Gillespie had the same defects as Sylla, but was an even worse player. Wise, Gillespie and Dublin are the three players I've booed while wearing a City shirt for a visible and absolute lack of interest. Dublin has improved since but the memory of that performance (I can't remember the game! One of our dire home displays early last season) continues to make me suspicious of him. Problem with Sylla is there is no-one pushing him for his place, unless Elvis is tried there.

Perhaps Hume could play there ?

i was getting hacked off with maybury. he looked great last season when he joined but is getting turned too easily, and that is essentially all a right back should be trying to stop.
To be fair to Maybury though, Sylla hasn't been helping out, and he's having to mark 2, sometimes 3, players on his own at times.

but in saying that, he has made errors that he didn't make last season.

anyways, as much as i might grit my teeth about a player who isn't pulling their weight...i would never boo them during a game. i don't see how that helkps the situation apart from making the player in question give even less of a toss about the team than he did before!

I am probably going to get lambasted for this but IMO Sylla should keep his place. I agree he looks too laid back, but I think that is in the style he plays, he does need to try and track back and get stuck in a bit more and we know he can do it because he has in the past, but he is doing what a winger needs to do and that is beat players and get the crosses in. At one point on Saturday the ball was passed out to him in the second half and he didn't even change pace to collect it (his laid back style when really you would expect him the be sprinting it down) and two Saints defenders came charging him down, in came the tackles, but with a couple of close touches he left them standing and raced to the byline and got the cross in. He has the skill and touch to create things which IMO is what we need and if that means that Maybury needs to stay back more and defend and the central midfielders work a bit harder then so be it. We have been calling for wingers with a bit of pace and skill for ages and in the squad we have some. The problem is getting the balance right, graft, skill and flair and on Saturday it wasn't quite there, but that had more to do with the 'absent' Williams. I like Williams alot and think he could be a great player for us, his skill is there, but he just doesn't get involved enough. If he took a game by the scruff of the neck he could control the midfield no problem and we would be a better team for it, but because he doesn't we are left lacking. I also feel Smith didn't get involved enough, but can understand that with his age and making his home debut and did give us a glimpse of what he can do.
This is all about opinions and this is mine, I can see why Sylla is getting grief but he bring something to the team that means we could create something out of nothing. We could have a team full of grafters and we could be quite solid, but you do need flair aswell to win games and there are not many players around that can give you both flair and graft especially in our price bracket.

so keep him in in case he does something good because now and again he can :102:

Putting it very plainly Lazzer, but from our squad yes.

plainly is good for me :icon_lol: on three occasions right in front of me he could have easily won the ball and chose not to tackle at all :102: im not having that !! regardless of what he might do. Joe might do an interesting post one day but i wouldnt make him a mod on the strength of it ;)

Like I said he does need to work on that part of his game and has done so in the past, so I can see your point there, but we have been crying out for creative players for ages and Sylla gives us that. As I said the problem is getting the balance right, if the midfield can cover Sylla then it will work. Much in the same way as we did for Guppy. Guppy was one of the best crossers of the ball at the time but couldn,t tackle to save his life, but the rest covered for this. If we are just solid throughout then teams know what to expect, but now we have players like Sylla, Elvis and Hume it makes us a little less predictable. CL has a big job ahead of him building this team and now IMO he is playing the back four he has always wanted to, we can see that he has an idea of what he is doing.
On the Joe thing you are right, but if he wasn't here it would be a hell of lot more predictable ;)

Simple loss of temper on my part, I'm afraid, nothing premeditated - and hence, no thought given to consequences! Very much doubt they heard me in any case.

I'd make me a moderator instantly as the current band of bowzow's couldn't moderate their way out of a paper bag.

Too busy retelling other posters jokes some of them....;)

I thought Momo had a good game on saturday, was certainly as good as Williams, Smith, Dublin, Maybury and Hammond.

O.K his work rate in tracking back isn't great but he held and ran with the ball well and put some decent crosses in.
