31 does not mean he will not be good. If age was a barrier we would never of had the services of Ferdinand, Keown or Dublin and probably a few others.

And he might be good for 2 or 3 seasons. If we are good enough to go up next season how many of our current squad have had Premiership experience?

If we get promoted you cannot just dump the whole squad and start again, so having a couple of 'old hands' on board could be useful.
