If Milan was to go I am sure that there would be a mega financial crisis and the threads here would be largely about us being right in the financial sh-t.

Not if the rumours circulating that a bid is being drawn up to buy out MM are true, and maybe they are......

The only reason MM is causing a potential crisis is that as yet he's not paid up what he agreed for the shares, and hasn't put any money into the club, merely underwritten the loans and in addition signings like Clemence & Campbell.

Of course, as the shares haven't been paid for, if a rival bid was preferrable is it possible that those with shares unpaid could be within their rights to oust MM?

Perhaps its fair to assess that he's increased the debt and not (as yet) actually spent much (if anything) at all.

Might be a bit of wishful thinking on Dunc's behalf:icon_wink

I'm not really arsed who is in charge, I'm just making a point that if MM left for any reason, chances are we wouldn't be without a buyer.

I personally don't see what is great about him given that he's not put his money in (as yet), has yet to improve our footballing situation and has made us into a joke with however many managers we've had under him.

Today it looks like they'll be sold for more than double what Leicester was, despite having double the debt...
I've still not read anything that convinces me that MM could walk away from the club and easily flog us.

Without any fact to support the following statement I can not see how LCFC could appear to be a decent acquisition to any potential buyer in its current state (the only tangible assets being the website and Filbert Fox's stamp collection).

Up until this moment in time, I have been 100% pro MM. I am still massively in favour of the guy, and hope he takes us where he wants us to be.

My 100% has slipped, not a lot, bit it's slipped.

Given that financial background it makes sense for someone economically to take a Club like City, Brum, WBA, Derby (you fill in the rest) if they can be bought for a reasonable sum and then spend some more to take the risk that they might get into the PL. After all the wage bill is much smaller in the Fizzy. If I had a spare £20 million then I would take that risk. :icon_bigg :icon_wink

This is tantalizing. How close are you - half way there, three quarters. You mention £20 million being spare. Can we take it you already have £20 million that is busy.

I wish. :icon_bigg I can confirm that I am trying my hardest to earn the £20 million but at this rate it might be some time. :icon_conf :icon_wink

The main similarities are that LCFC & ITFC are clubs of similar size and potential - but I don't know whether they are in deep hock like we are - and I do know that they are starting from having better footballers - the comparative results advise me of that. However, I don't know the current financial baselines for either club.

In the last few seasons Ipswich have sold anyone who was saleable and have not spent a penny, surviving on free's and loan's, which would suggest that their squad is nothing to right home about.

On the financial side they have about double the debt we had when MM bought the club last year.

What they have got right is the management of the club, appointing and sticking what looks like like a good, bright and intelligent young manager, with a brief to develop an attractive and winning team over a 2/3 seasons.

Surely our potential fan base is far larger what with us being a major city and them being predominately rural.

Why?

Similar grounds; similar gates - what possible difference does it make to potential attendances if they draw mainly from a smaller urban centre and rural Suffolk whilst Leicester is a medium sized city? None of that gives us an edge in fan support nor additional revenue.

If we are not careful we'll begin to sound like they used to spout about B'ham City (when they were in the second tier) - " sleeping giant" etc. We are not a sleeping giant - we are a struggling championship club that has been badly run now for a very long time but enjoys better than average support given the circs.

There are more people in our catchment area than theirs. If you agree with that fact then how can you argue that we do not have a better potential attendance? :102:

And how dare you suggest the Walkers is "similar" to Portman Road :bang:

Portman Road is a fantastic ground for Ipswich, and so is the Walkers. No difference at all really.

I've just gone to heaven!

The Bloomfield years were what really got me into Leicester in a big way.

And the ones of us who were fortunate to be there through them will never forget them.I make my 16yr old son sit and watch the videos of that team, hes been a season ticket holder since he was 11 and has never got to see the standard what i/we were watching at that age

I am aware that Leicester has a larger population than Ipswich.

However - given that Ipswich are the team for much of southern East Anglia I doubt whether there is that much difference in the respective clubs' fan bases , still less that much difference in attendances/ through the turnstiles revenue.

Being a keenly observant person, I have noticed that there are certain differences in the architecture of the respective stadia! Being old fashioned I think Portman Road is a much more atmospheric ground, than The Walkers, but on the otherhand you get an excellent view of the playing area from every vantage point at The Walkers. To be honest the latter is very important to me - since I was brought up standing on the Filbert Street Popular Side where if you were under about 5' 10" it was unlikely that you would have a decent view of both goal areas.

Frankly I think you are kidding yourself if you think we are a significantly better or bigger club than Ipswich. But if that makes you happy - good luck to you.

No we are not necessarily any bigger but I am sure that Ipswich feel they should be in the top flight and as a corollary so should we. :icon_bigg :icon_wink

Another Club on the list of why the fizzy Clubs have marketing potential. :icon_wink
