The consistently excellent recruitment from Steve Walsh made NP's management appear to be much better than it really was.
NP was a good organiser and he borrowed many ideas from Allardyce. He was fecking garbage tactically and lost in the dark ages in many respects.
The change of formation at WBA was forced on him by injury. Many accounts have talked about how the change in approach and attitude was triggered by Cambiasso. Although it was with NP's blessing to his credit.
I do agree and accept that his psychotic episodes were at least partly deliberate. However, his disgusting nepotism, arrogance and stubbornness were all obvious flaws in his character and ability.
All anyone really needs to know though is demonstrated by his suitors since leaving us. If he was well regarded in the game, wouldn't he have been more sought after?
