I left Australia in 2004 and later that year I had my phone stolen in that shop on Henton Road. It wasn't until mid-2009 when I signed up to Facebook that I managed to contact all the people I knew there. In fact, I'm still in the process of tracking them all down, but Facebook has helped enormously.
Of course, there's the undesirable side-effect of getting added by all my old school 'friends' and random Chinese women I've never met, but I can just ignore those ****s.

facebook is more then status updates. you can send messages, upload photos, organise events etc. Having never used twitter, i dont know if you can do these things on there but as far as im aware its just a site to say "i just cooked spag bol" "im having a shit" "im going down tescos" "im a boring **** just like everyone else"

It can be used for pointless, banal messages, just like Facebook can or just like talkingballs for that matter, but that doesn't mean that that it is the only thing it is used for.
Therefore you shouldn't be directing your rage at 'anybody that uses Twitter', you should be directing your fury at the arseholes in your Facebook friends list that use it in that way.

I'm not little. I just get annoyed by people who don't seem to care that they appear to be really stupid. And it's a better thing to be pissed off about than Twitter.

This thread is here for us to post about the people that piss us off. Some people piss me off by making very basic mistakes again and again, despite having been told.
It pisses me off because sometimes I have to read things several times before I understand what someone is trying to say, or I don't know what they're trying to say because it doesn't make sense.
It also pisses me off because my taxes are paying for an education system that obviously isn't working.

I think it's been pointed out on numerous occassions that how people post on talkingballs isn't how they write normally. It's lazyness and more often then not a result of typing quickly. I would hopefully spot the mistakes I make if I bothered to proof read my posts but alas I can't be arsed with such trivial things. It's a message board not a class room and judging the standards of the education system to the extent it pisses you off is just a bit sad
I agree, a lot of mistakes are caused by that, it's easy to make a typo when you're typing quickly and aren't checking it before submitting it. Everyone does that. That doesn't piss me off.
The things that piss me off are the mistakes that can't be blamed on laziness. Using the wrong word again and again isn't about being lazy or typing quickly. It doesn't take any longer to type 'than' than it does to type 'then', but some people get it wrong every time.
Maybe some people grew up using the wrong word and it's so ingrained in their brain they do it automatically, even though they know it's wrong. If that's the case, the education system is to blame, they should catch such basic errors before they become ingrained.

Thats purely your opinion, which of course you're entitled too, but it doesn't mean that it's the truth.
Again your criticisms of the education system seems a bit reactional and a pure exaggeration. I'm not trying to say it's perfect and without flaws, but the older generation:icon_wink do go a bit over the top to the extent they think it's ****ed up, in my opinion of course...

To be fair it isn't 'purely opinion', it is supported by evidence, you cannot argue against that. Perhaps they don't teach that kind of thing any more though, so maybe it isn't your fault that you're confused. Although, I would contend that it is your fault as I'm completely 'uneducated' in a conventional sense but do possess critical ability.
