I never asked you to list every function of twitter, but perhaps some of the others. it still seems to me to be purely about status updates and i'm waitied to be corrected

To be fair it isn't 'purely opinion', it is supported by evidence, you cannot argue against that. Perhaps they don't teach that kind of thing any more though, so maybe it isn't your fault that you're confused. Although, I would contend that it is your fault as I'm completely 'uneducated' in a conventional sense but do possess critical ability.

This thread is here for us to post about the people that piss us off. Some people piss me off by making very basic mistakes again and again, despite having been told.

It pisses me off because sometimes I have to read things several times before I understand what someone is trying to say, or I don't know what they're trying to say because it doesn't make sense.
It also pisses me off because my taxes are paying for an education system that obviously isn't working.

It's lazyness and more often then not a result of typing quickly.

i know the difference between than and then (ie than is for comparative statements, then for time/sequences) I just make the mistake alot, and i know i do. I just don't see it as something to get uptight about though.

Seriously, if it annoys you so much, why do you read it? What annoys me about Twitter haters is that they will happily read gossip columns.

The women at work who moan about it will get all excited about the fact Cheryl Cole was spotted buying a pregnancy test, but if Cheryl tweeted it herself they would say "who gives a ****, why do I care".

A lot of the time, before I tweet, which in turn updates my facebook status, I sit and think "will this annoy Ben?". I don't care what I decide, but it's nice to think I'm doing my bit.

Interestingly, a sample of your recent facebook status' read pretty much like the twitter streams you hate, random song lyrics, how you feel about 5-a-side and some music you are listening to!

True but I don't update my facebook status as regularly as the average Twitter user, plus I don't use it as much as other facebook features. I know I'm guilty of mundane updates but just not as frequently as twitter folk. And I never claimed my statements on Twitter were objective truths but were merely views...

So it's the frequency rather than the content that annoy you?

Yes. Twitter encourages frequent rambles, as there isn't much purpose to the site apart from status updates as far as i can tell

I use it, as well as for frequent rambles, to update people on my follow list of anything interesting I find that they might like, ponderings that I would like answering by them etc.

If you were mildly annoyed by it I might be able to understand, but you get really furious about it, and I can't grasp why.

There are a lot of spam followers, I go through and remove them from my list once a month or so. I have about 15 followers I think, mostly friends and aquantances. I signed up as an experiment to tie it into my blog initially.
