We might buy players after the season starts. The window doesn't close until the end of August.

I suspect that's what will happen but people will still be tearing their hair out if we don't sign numbers 13-16 this week :icon_bigg

Thought there were lots of good signs, though there is still obvious need for players to get used to each other. Nobody had a bad game. Improvement in Stearman - more like the lad we fiest saw - was encouraging.

DJ still looks a bit rusty. Sappleton loked really promising in his few minutes, as did the hyphenated youngster who took over at left back.

Interesting to see the changes in formation being tried out during the game.

Hope Mattock & McAuley's injuries are not too serious.

Sat just behind the Pompey dugout & got a superb view / listen to MA's touchline performance. Hilarious!!

I was quite impressed really. They simply had a world class keeper at one end.

We will lack pace at the back, Stearman IMO is a joke. We need a left-back despite Chambers good performance.

The midfield looks very good. De Vries played quite well.

He didn't do much last week against Notts County when he came on, and he did feck all today when he came on. MDV and Hume have both looked good together. Would be harsh if DJ walked straight into the team just because of his price tag, he has to earn his place.

I thought DJ looked lively...if a little raw

Fortune has gone France whoever mentioned him...scored yesterday

I must have sat virtually behind you. We thought that MA's performance was hilarious as well, he seemed to be shouting Move all the while.

totally agree with you hazz-lets play chambers at right back (where he is meant to be playing anyway!) and maybe sign a new left back-or play mattock there.

Yes. Amazed that came out so well, as I saw the shot coming in I just pointed in the general direction and clicked, I was expecting to get an out of focus picture of the west stand!

I'm amazed at the clarity also. The shot was hit very hard. Maybe you should take up photography! Where were you sat? It looks like you were sat at the side of the pitch!

I also thought that it could be the save he made from Newtons volley which imo was an even better save....world class even.

Goes to show the importance of having a good keeper. They can be worth 15-20 points a year.

On that note is casino Jimmy any good?

I was near the corner flag, about 8 rows back.

I've attached another James save, maybe it's the one you're talking about.

Absolutely. I thought we were outclassed in the first half and could have gone in 3 down. However in the second half we really had a go at them and had some very good chances to score 5 or 6 ourselves! James made 3 fantastic saves from Weso, Newton and Hume which the average Championship keeper would not have saved imo.

Jimmy didnt play which I thought was very strange. He was on the bench but Hendo played the full 90 and couldnt be faulted to be fair.

I would have expected Nielsen to play if he was earmarked for the Blackpool game. Maybe he is slightly injured, hence the bandage in the training pic, or maybe Allen doesnt fancy him. :102:

Didn't Newton report from the last training that he picked up a minor knock? I hope he will play tomorrow, think he needs that.
