Thought he did when i saw him in action for the first time, had an alright game yesterday even though he came on for 10 mins of so. Looked good in that period though.

Interesting to see the changes in formation being tried out during the game.

I can't see us playing 3-4-3, as we did when N'Gotty was replaced by Sappleton. It looked as if MA was going to take De Vries off. They started to make the change and De Vries's number was on the board, but then seemed to change their minds. I hope this doesn't mean that N'Gotty has a knock as well as MacAuley.

I'm not so sure, from what I've seen of casino Jimmy he doesn't look safe at all. I feel Hendo has been harshly treated.

quite impressed with display yesterday 1-3 wasnt a fair result as it masks the fact that david james kept pompey ahead with 2-3 brilliant saves. although their quality was clear to see, we created a few openings that we might have done better with. IMO dj campbell will come good for us, he looked lively and lets not forget that theres another week until the blackpool game and im sure that by then campbell will be firing. MdV looked good aswell. defence looks VERY shaky though n'gotty and mcauley dont fill me with confidence and i dont rate stearman at all

The "Mooove" "whistle" Move" was fantastic. For a horrible moment I thought it was "Hoof". Loved the bit where he told McAulley to lie down after he was hurt so he could sub him.

Did you hear the woman who was asking why he didn't shut up for a while, and the "And what's his assistant for? £50,000 a year and all he does is whistle" ... or was that you? :icon_bigg

True, I doubt it is something we will actually use much, but I thought it encouraging that

a He was prepared to change formation / tactics in the course of a game (something we have complained about recent managers not doing) and

b How quickly everyone instantly adjusted their positions, which indicates training has been as much about alertness & thinking as fitness etc.

Personally I think he will - we have umpteen strikers on the books, it was common to see us go three up front with the previous MA. I expect it again but not with as mish-mash back 3.

i sat 3 seats from the dugout row a, and ma was hillarious. he certainlly had the players on their toes.

i was pleased with the workout against pompey and i agree with mike the tinter about mdv, i thought he was outstanding with the role he played.i hope ma can sort out a formation with mdv,hume and dj up front.hume and dj are both the sort of players that drop back and chase if they lose possesion up front so the mid field wouldnt get that exposed.with that feisty front line we will give most back fours a nightmare.clemence was pure class and i believe he will become a legend at the club. his passing and touch was a joy to watch. hendo has to start for me, hes been hard done to in the past.nothing against nielsen but he looked a bit stocky close up on sat.kisnorbo slotted straight back in the team. he picks up the highball forward very well and will be missed for 2 games.

all-in-all well pleased and pumped up for this season.if these lads can gell earlly we will be a threat for anyone

Just saw the highlights, they scored 3 very good goals, defending could have been tighter but they had a lot of skill it seems.

3 rows behind you. I'll rule myself out from the second part as I'm male & wouln't dream of saying something like that. Think she was 2 seats infront of me. After that performance from MA I don't think the players will have any trouble hearing him even with a full house. If fact I'll probably hear him still when I get back to the family stand. Good entertainment though.
