I was equally disappointed and angry when I read this this morning. I still am several hours later. So proud of what our team have done this season only for it all to be tainted with this. I regularly travel abroad for work and am constantly aware that I am there because of that, not on a jolly. Yes we have a few beers of an evening and a few hours are 'lost' here and there, but never have I shown the company up. If I ever behaved in the manner I would expect to be dismissed ( and quite possibly find difficulty finding another job in the industry's). It's all very well being trained as a young footballer but maybe, somewhere in amongst all that, these kids need some social training. How to behave in foreign countries, how to be respectful to their hosts and to be proud of who they represent. These youngsters are supposed to be role models to my children. They make me sick to the stomach.

It really isn't hard to sack someone immediately as long as you have sufficient evidence (yep) and the will to do so (hmm). If they appeal and take the club to a tribunal, so what?

For example, this was a recent case: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/jay-hart-sex-tape-nonleague-footballer-sacked-after-being-filmed-having-sex-with-unknown-blonde-girl-in-managers-dugout-10189449.html

The three players in question have strong allies within the senior management of the club. Pearson (obviously) but also the other two have been close with our DofF Jon Rudkin for many years. The fact that there is not even an announcement of a suspension is appalling.

Frankly, if they'd been sacked immediately, can you see Gordon Taylor flying to their aid? They've done more harm to the name of professional footballers and they won't find support easy to get from their Union. The PFA choose their battles very carefully.

The owners should step up and make the decision. It's their club, their country, their reputation. They have easily enough evidence to act. And if anyone in the management structure isn't prepared to accept this, they can feck off too. Frankly, it's already 12 hours too late.

Sweet baby jebus, they dont actually have any shame.

They don't see a need for it.They've got money & grew up in an environment where that's all that matters.People without money on the other hand are toys for their entertainment.

I am even more disgusted with them now than I was this morning.

Didn't Gordon Taylor defend Terry? If you want to be angry that they've not been sacked immediately, that's your choice but it's misplaced.

Wow.. and that other example is at a lesser level, smaller club and a less severe example. Hope these twatty lads get what they deserve.

I'm not sure what sort of social training it should actually take to instill a belief that treating someone like a piece of worthless shit for your own entertainment is actually a bad thing.I've always found that just being alive taught me that. The insulation from reality that sportsmen & women enjoy is to blame for this kind of thing. No reason to respect a world that you consider yourself better than.
As for the role model thing I've never understood it.As a lad my footballing role models were based on me wanting to be able to chip the keeper from 30 yards. It never occurred to me to want life advice from them. That's where we go wrong as a society, especially now when any cretinous no mark can be a celebrity with the right exposure & a good agent.

I think the club is right to tread carefully and take it slowly even if it's bleeding obvious what should be done about it. They could leave themselves open to being sued or anything.

It will I'm sure be sorted within five working days.

It would be much worse to do something reactionary and then have to back-track due to a silly error.

There is also NP to consider in this as it is his son at the end of the day so it needs to be handled 'sensitively' to ensure the club doesn't alienate NP.

Do you not think they should be removed from the club Matt?

I've made it clear elsewhere that I do. I just don't think they can be removed as quickly as Brown Nose keeps saying they should be. He seems to consider it a weakness that the club haven't broken due process to get rid by now.

"...The striker came off the bench in the 73rd minute for Clitheroe during the 4-1 defeat in their final away game of the season, which came at Mossley’s Seel Park stadium and was named ‘ladies day’ in order to promote the club and attract more female supporters"

Jesus! I thought I was reading a Daily Mash article at that point!

You only normally suspend if there is a danger to a person or persons involved in this or the disciplinary process could be blighted.

You have to be careful with suspension as the suspended person could try and suggest the decision is pre-determined by suspension.

Softly, softly catchy monkey.

I do appreciate what you're saying and the fact that employment law can be complex and manipulated. However, this is a story on the rise when it should be on the fall by now. It's currently the top read story on the BBC site and Sky and world press are all over it. No doubt there are journalists in Thailand as we speak looking for the women involved and offering money for stories to perpetuate it further.

By acting fast and strongly, you take the heat out of the story. That's worth more than any poxy tribunal compensation or such like. We should have acted to defend the club, not these three idiots.

It's not as if we've not had experience of this sort of scandal before. We ought to know by now how to manage it better.

Alternatively, by acting quickly they create a different shitstorm by having the PFA threaten court action and keeping the story in the media.

The club are damned either way. I reckon this is as good as it gets for the moment.

Plus its a completely different management structure in place now, so how they act will be different from the La Manga/W*se sagas

And despite this wonderful technology we have outing these three as sackable ****s we've yet to announce they've been as much as suspended, well done to the club there.

The club announced that there would be an internal investigation and that there would be no further comment until the investigation was complete. This would preclude an announcement about any suspension.
