My take on seeing the team for the first time this season;

First half, what more can be said. Appalling. Reading spread the play well and were pretty good, if they had a decent striker we could have been 4-0 down before we scored. Defencively McGivern was appalling. Anyone who says anything different was watching a different game.

Second half more even, but still not good. Too much of a gap between the back line and midfield which allowed Reading to come at us in waves. Distribution out of the back again appalling, McGivern again a culprit.

Humping it down the line into the channels was ineffective as we had no wingers to speak of. The hump up the middle was equally ineffective and the ball just came straight back at us.

Attacking w*s* i think we held the ball quite well but too much one dimensional play.

Thank f**k they are shit in front of goal.

We need to play out and out wingers who can cross the ball into whoever is playing up front. Without this we are too narrow. Campbell does not look interested imho, and goes missing for periods. Can someone please explain the offside rule to him, maybe in brail as the dumb f****r is clearly blind.
Overall a good 3 points but dross to watch and for £26.50 on the door poor value for money.

He was offside twice ffs and they were both only just! I think both fryatt and waghorn were caught the same if not more in the first half!!!

I look at it this way.

We are winning games and have got ourselves into the play off positions without playing brilliant. We have been steady and and it's true there is a heck of a lot to work on but imagine if we start playing really well. We could be in with a serious chance here.

5th in the table with room for improvement and on the surface these mistakes are rectifyable. All good to be a city fan at the moment.

Great win......was able to see the match on Danish TV last night:). Didn`t really expect a lot, being the away team & Reading certainly took over in the first half & shame on the Reading players (especially Church!), for wasting such sitters:icon_redf.

When we pressured them in the last 5 mins of the 1st half, culminating in consecutive corners, I remember thinking how unjust it would be if City popped it in.....a deathly hush sank over the stadium (most Reading fans felt the same way, I think:)) & in it went:038:. A very important goal, scored at the best possible stage of the game & against the run of play:icon_razz. It broke their rhythm & we were much more in contention for the 2nd half.

DJ looked quite lively, Fryatt looked skilled, but slow.....Redknapp & a couple of others were there in the crowd......wonder who they were looking at?

Now looking forward to QPR on friday......that`s on the box too:038:

We're about halfway to securing at least Championship status for next season. This makes me happy. I know that we weren't the best last night, but after the last few seasons that we spent in this division, I enjoy every win, no matter how it comes about.

Just offside is worse, with his pace he should easily be able to start clearly on side and then move as the ball is threaded through to him.

And yes they both were (Fryatt and Waghorn) but i chose to look at DJ to form my own opinion. I wasn't comparing just giving my opinion on him and his cameo performance.

A win is a win and that's all that matters.

I could watch that all the time as long as we won and didn't lose.

**** fancy football if it means we are going to lose all the time!

I agree with everything you said apart from the DJ comment. I thought he tried hard and chased the ball down several times, as well as tracking back to help out the midfield. He hardly had a sniff of goal but when he did he managed to get a couple of corners which took the pressure of our defence.

As for the offsides two of them could easily have gone the other way and Fryatt/Waghorn were offside just as many times if not more.

Dont get me wrong he could have played better, but he wasnt terrible and played just as well as Howard did.

Maybe your right, he just doesn't seem sharp, but then lack of 1st team action could account for this i suppose. I still think he could try harder though, especially with his pace.

Howard looked good to me, won more than his fair share of headers and held the ball up well, linking the play. Don't think we could ask much more of him other than to score.

I reckon we will score against QPR, but i have a horrible feeling they will score more...

Puleeese, can we get this into perspective?

We are now 4 points off the top, in a season where we have just been promoted. Logically, we have no right to be there. But we are.

Now, as we Scousers say, can we just all calm down? Chill.

Nigel Pearson knows what he's doing. Otherw*s* we wouldn't be where we are. And frankly we have no right to be where we are.

We are performing above our capabilities. Maybe. The stats would say that.

But we are in the frame. That has to be decent, if not good, considering where we've come from.

We are not a Premiership side. That will take time. But we are doing extremely well in the Championship, against all odds.

Let's give credit where it's due.

Nigel Pearson is our best manager since MoN.

I think the point the likes of Me, Lako and others arer saying is, that was a woeful performance against a woeful side, with some poor performances by McGivern, King and Oakley the main culprits.

If we had lost last night, and lets not kid ourselves it could have been all over by half time, and we lose on Friday, we could have found ourselves mid-table with our confidence knocked. And believe me there would be more than a handful moaning. We have been flying by the seat of our pants recently.

Anyone who says either of the above players had a good game, needs to check to make sure they did indeed have Sky Sports 1 on their telly, and not some other network.

Very true, but if we play like that every time I can't see us winning too many games.

I look forward to us playing better and winning more.

I think if we could play some fancy football we might be able to win 2-0 instead of relying on good luck and fluking the points against the run of play.

We would have been severely punished against a better team, defensively it was a disaster. It's clear to me that Neilson and McGivern are not the full backs that will get us promoted.

Some good intentions up front, but they were few and far between. Waghorn lively, Howard good holding the ball up when we needed it, DJ looked a bit lost but I guess he hasn't played for a while.

Three good points anyway and we're up to 5th!

:038::038:

McGivern, King and Nielsen are just not good enough for this team.

I expect Morrison, Berner and Dyer to return for Friday.

heres hoping...

Well that was the most undeserved victory I have seen in a long time, yet we should have scored more goals. Thank god Reading couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo - if we play similarly against QPR we will be on the wrong end of a hammering.

McGivernaway was woeful, I still can't work out why Berner was originally 'rested' as he has been one of the better players this season (definitely in the games I've seen anyway) - Berner to definitely start against QPR. King was rubbish yet again - I hope NP puts Oakley back in the middle and gives N'Guessan another go on the Right Wing.

:038::038: either dany or dyer on the right

How is being just offside worse then being 4/5 yards offside? :icon_lol::icon_lol:

Did anyone else notice the amount of Manager's their was in the Stadium yesterday? A Real day.

...You missed my point, he should never be just off side as he is fast enough to be further behind the line of the last defender when the ball is played...
