Totally agree! I could not see Connolly getting a hatful of goals this season based on his lacklustre performances in the last two games ( and yes, I do know he was coming back fron injury ). Financially, i do not think the club had a choice, and on top of that, what is the point of keeping an unhappy player who wants to have a go at the top flight ( and which may well be his last chance ).

We all had optimism that DC would score 20 goals this season and he probably could have done, but we will never know, who is to say that whoever we sign can not do the same or better. Yes I agree with the points about us now being worse off than we were yesterday, but who is to say that tomorrow can not be even brighter.
Mixed feelings at the moment for me. As xsub said players come and go but we are always here, ripping our fecking hair out and chewing our fingers to the bone. I love being a city fan.

I hate it! ;) lol

Why can't things just go well for us for once? :( I blame all this on Peter Taylor! Grr. His fault I feel glum today.

Who is to say things have'nt gone well for us Graz, look on the bright side, we have made a profit of 1.5 - 2.5 million on DC and his replacement could be even better. We never really played a style to DC's strengths which is why he never scored as many goals as he threatend to, the new bloke may fit in fine a score a hatful, maybe Tranmere were not playing to Hume's strengths ;)

It is all ifs and buts and down to stats, Dickov could'nt score until he came here ;)

If's, but's and maybe's.

If my aunt had a dick she'd be my uncle! 2 million will be of little comfort in league 1.

Theres no point in being negative about Connolly leaving. He's gone and we are just going to have to get on without him. If Connolly wanted to go then fair play to him. He stood up and told the manager he wanted to go and thats fine. Id much sooner have a young striker with plenty to prove than a good striker in the wrong frame of mind.

The club really cannot win with some people, slated by many when we lost players like Dickov for giveaway prices 2 seasons ago, we then sell a striker, who for the first 5 - 6 months of last season couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo, he then has a decent run in the second half of the season, although a number of his goals were from the penalty spot, he has 2 decent games this season and we sell him for an exceptional fee which could rise to 3m.

Lets point out a few facts :

1) He scored 14 goals last season in the championship.
2) He is 28 years old.
3) He is unproven in the premiership.
4) Wigan offered 2m yes 2m plus another 1m if they stay up.
5) We are skint !
6) We have signed 2 younger players for a fraction of DC's fee, who potentially have shown themselves to be decent players.
7) Elvis has started 2 games, in both he was unlucky not to open his account and in both those games showed more than a little ability and a hell of a lot of potential, DC hardly set the world alight right upto January / February.
8) Hume is an exciting signing, who will get better, he is 21 and hungry.
9) Anybody thought that maybe DC wanted the move and was maybe becoming a negative influence.

I say well done to the board, it was obvious DC had been angling for this move, the rumours had been going since pre season, we have recieved a fee of 2m which could increase significantly, for a player who a little more than 6 months ago would have struggled to justify and recoup the 1/2 mill we paid for him.

Better players than DC have left us in the past and more will leave us in the future. On the other hand we have also signed good players too, and I feel this Hume chap could prove to be another, lets just give him the chance to prove his worth.

DC can rot At Wigan! Also the amount of clubs he has been at suggests something to me, and why have non of the other premiership clubs come in for him if he is that good.

Good point about how DC tends to drift from club to club.

We also know that only a bottom of the table premiership outfit would consider him.

However, he was our best goalscorer -only a few days ago CL reiterated his view that DC would be our top scorer this season - lets hope that this prediction proves inaccurate now!!!

if you got connolly 8 on your shirt you can take it back and they will swap it for a new one and are sending all the old ones to charty.

That is quite good actually, what charity are they sending them to??

What are the odds on Wigan to go down? Say they are 3/1 on. If the board put a bet on them going down - say £500k, then we'll make at least £170k profit if they get relegated and £500k (after cost losing bet) from Connolly if they stay up.

Shame about Connolly but the money was good and his record of club-hopping shows he's probably not a positive force in the changing room.

I hope Hume can step up. At least with CL there is some consistency in his buying strategy (i.e. young and keen).

I sincerely hope they are hedging. ;)
