Rodgers future...

It is, but it gives no context or indication of what happened before the 32 matches.
What happened before the 363 days since Maddison made an assist?

Shhh, he doesn't like people who don't understand statistics. Don't point out he's one of them.
Tbf, I think you're talking different things; using a stat to support a perspective and the stat itself.

To me, it's evident that '1 assist in 363 days' implies there was an assist the day before. You hear that kind of use of stats all over the place. It supports an argument. It's tailoring (rather than manipulating imho) the stat for a purpose - nobody is suggesting it makes it any more/less true or false.

I think it's perfectly valid to point out the tailored use of stats (even if it's self-evident to some) because it makes you aware of the purpose, or context, of the usage. Saying it supports an agenda in this case is perhaps a harsh way of putting it (though clearly that does happen in some circumstances) but I can see that interpretation.

For myself, I'm aware of stats (even if somewhat sniffy about them sometimes) but also hopefully aware of their limitations. That Maddison hasn't had an assist in the last x games doesn't mean he's not going to have several in the next game, or 1 each in the next 10.

To slightly change tack by way of further example; yep, Nacho has had three goals and x assists (or whatever) in the last 4 toilet visits (or whatever) It's true, it's a stat, it's a fact within the context that it exists. But it says nothing about the level/quality of opposition or the luck element in those goals/assists. I scored 6 once in one game - it's a fact.

I called it with Puel 5 months into his regime, and the thread went very similar to this, with the usual suspects saying I was stupid to think that blah blah blah.
I'm a very sad person with nothing better to do, so went back to look at the Puel out thread. And it didn't go similar to this. Yes, there were people on both sides of the fence, but the Puel Out team could point towards playing turgid football and a record that was similar to Shakespeare's. At least half the posters, including many from this thread, agreed with you back then.

On the contrary, we're not playing turgid football now and as has already been pointed out, Rodgers has a great record since he's joined. So other than not liking some team selections and formations (which have got us to 4th in the league, may I point out, including thrashing Man City with an 'awful' team selection), I don't really see what the fuss is about.

I don't think we're performing as well as we can and results have somewhat flattered us, but given the injuries we've had I think that 4th in the league and EL group progression are a great start to the season.

“42 points in the last 32 matches, since the 4-1 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park on 8th December 2019”

Hope that’s better.

It summed it up for me when somebody was saying how lucky we were against Sheff Utd because we only got Vardy's goal from a mistake. We got the goal because we harrased their player into a mistake and capitalised on it. If Liverpool had done it, it would have been a "they're never beaten" attitude. For us apparently it's lucky. Some are only intent on being negative, it seems.

You don’t think so? I think we are. I don’t find it enjoyable to watch, it’s boring, negative, and no better than what Puel served us. And has been for almost a year now.

But if you think it’s good to watch, then I’m pleased for you.

I think there's been patches of depressing football, and a few games in their entirety (West Ham being a great example). But overall I would be very hard-pressed to describe this season as turgid.

And if we are 4th in the league playing turgid football, I'm really excited to see what we can achieve with Ndidi, Castagne, Soyuncu and Ricardo back in the team, and Under further integrated...

Sorry CF, that’s horse shit of the stickiest order.

Although I understand why you might think there are similarities in the style of play (out from the back and playing across the lines, also back and forth), the players now are much more dynamic and quicker in the pass and move.

I believe that if we had Castagne and Perreira available we would be much more attractive to watch as both of them can carve through a midfield and indeed opposition defence.

We are also rotating players, normally half a dozen a game due to the twice a week fixtures.

Whether you like Brendan or not is in a way irrelevant, our OVERALL results stand on their own and have left us in an exceptional position to push on in both the league and Europa League.

Our style is somewhat dictated and a direct result of the factors pointed out above.

We also hit the post twice and were very unlucky not to be playing against 10 men for much of the match. We deserved to win that game against a very desperate Sheffield United.

Now the Fulham Performance was ****ing shit, I’ll concede.

Has anyone pointed out that our xG was 1.39 v 0.29 for Sheff Utd?...

*grabs tin hat*

For what it’s worth I was a vehement critic of Puel. I thought he was absolutely appalling and the football was routinely dreadful. I genuinely believe he would have taken us down had he not been escorted out. Nobody should ever forget what he was doing to Vardy.

Rodgers is not in the same bracket as Puel. He is a frustrating manager whose idiosyncrasies sometimes cost us results, but we’ve played some wonderful attacking football under him and Vardy is thriving.

Our biggest issue right now is our home form. Perhaps we are feeling the lack of fans a bit more than other clubs.

If that’s your opinion then fine. But don’t worry I won’t call your opinion horse shit of the stickiest order because I realise that’s your opinion.

I find quite a few similarities between watching us and watching England. England have been playing 5 at the back a lot recently, guarded by a couple of defensive midfielders, and only have 3 attacking players on the pitch. They go through the odd spell of nice to watch football at times, they even get the odd decent result against the odds (e.g. Belgium), but all in all it’s pretty unsatisfying to watch, and you can’t help but think a managerial change will get more out of our promising squad of players.

That’s what I think.

Completely understand this opinion.

I think what makes it worse for me with Brendan is that we have seen exactly what this team can do. 8 wins on the bounce, stuffing Southampton 9-0 etc. To go from that, to what we’ve seen for the next 12 months after that, makes it a lot worse for me.

With Puel it was shit or very shit. There was much less of a gap between our best and our worst than what we’re seeing now.

I think that’s a fair comparison. Though what I will say is that Rodgers is trying to manage a squad through an injury and fixture pile up so may be adapting his style to conserve energy in his squad.

England play once every few months. He has no such excuse for his conservatism.

It’s certainly frustrating, but I found Puel’s Leicester depressing. For the first time in years I was skipping games.

And I get all the recent injuries, I really do. But we can’t use that as an excuse for the style of play for much of the last 12 months.

But that's exactly how long our fixtures have been mad and we've had multiple injuries.

There have been very few weeks over that period where we had a full squad and/or an empty midweek.

BR has proved that he can deliver good results and good performances. He is unable to do similar when circumstances get in his way. If we had 25 quality players, you could hold him responsible for that but he doesn't. He has 14 at best. And he's still competing well against other managers with bigger squads.

That's why I don't think your criticism of BR is fair.
