so far 2 have voted no.. but haven't given reasons why.. I'd love to hear them

I seem to be the 5th to have voted no and I did so for the following reason:

I have the knowledge that I have the ticket in my hand. Living so far away it would have been difficult/impossible for me to have picked up any or all of these offers. Before one of the games there was a notice from the club saying that ST holders were at that time £54 ahead of those who had bought each ticket separately. Personally I admire the club's efforts in trying to fill the ground - and, as you know, I woldn;t have minded a few more Barnsley fans there either.

When City were in the Prem under MON and PT, I had a ST in the Carling Wing. At the start of the season, it was clear that it wasn't going to save me much money - just £10 one year and £5 another - but at least I knew I was going to get my seat.

If things had gone the way we would have wished them to have gone this season, non-ST holders might not have been getting a seat by now. It's a sort of insurance - and when you get insurnace on your car/house/life, you hope that it isn;t going to have to pay out every year. OK, the season has gone wrong - and we may be losing out a bit. But the alternative would be huge spaces in the stands - they're big enough already - I don't begrudge a freebie or two (or two thousand) filling them up.

Total cost to a Member who knows a STH so far this season - £210. 12 games gone so £17.50 average cot per game. Be interesting to hear what STH's have paid so far....

I think mine works out at £16.30 per game. So its a very real possibility that personally I would have been better off not buying my season ticket :icon_roll

Mine works out at £12.35 per game. Where do you sit, Durham? Don't you get the loyalty bonus? Did you pay extra for a gold-plated wallet to keep it in?

Yes. Its getting to be a bit of a joke now.

Not to mention that they gave free tickets out to the ethnic minorities, who have most likley never attended a Leicester match, never brought a shirt and haven't held a season ticket for x number of years during which time ploughing thousands of pounds into the club. Why did they reward these people instead of the loyal season ticket holders? They could just have easily given us 2 tickets each and said 'invite some mates'. It Would have achived the same thing (getting more people in who might in turn buy a ST).

That's nonsense. If your mates wanted to get season tickets, they would already have bought them. A couple of free tickets isn't going to change their minds. Many people from ethnic minorities, however, are from cultures where there is no history of 'going down the match'. The tickets weren't given to them as a reward - they were given in the hope that they might actually enjoy soemthing they have never experienced before and want to become a part of it.

I don't feel devalued.;) At the end of the day, I want my regular seat, no hassle buying bloody tickets, etc. I think this season has been a little bit unusual in that we've been pretty rubbish, and the club have had to do extra promotions to get bums on seats - I'd rather that than a half-empty stadium. I notice no-one's mentioned the Fulham game where our tickets are cheaper. I will get my tin helmet on now.

Oh **** - I've agreed with Sharapova!! I think I'm going to reconsider my decision not to kill myself!

I can totally understand why season ticket are holders feel the way they do, but surely free and cheap tickets has to be a better alternative to empty seats. We don't want the Walkers to start looking like Elland Road.

:icon_eek:

the club really made a big mistake setting ST prices so high IMO. i certainly raised it with friends (if not on here, i cant remember) that if we struggled this year we'd have serious problems getting non-ST holders in, as the club had given lots of propaganda out as to how much better you were to buy a ST, and buying individual tickets to a match would be seen as crap value for money. now it seems that by having special promotions (which are a necessary way for the club to increase attendance at the moment) they are rubbing ST holders up the wrong way. not a particularly clever way to run things. i'm sure some people at the club think that the fans don't have too much between their ears, but i would suggest that the business plan for this year may not have been sound and at least some fans realise this.

isn't this something the FT should be raising on behalf of the LCFC faithful?

the cost for a non-early-bird ST should still be considerably cheaper than buying individual match tickets. this should be included in the analysis.

other things that tick me off:
i) one year cycle for the home shirt. this is an absolute disgrace IMO and i can't believe the FT haven't made this more of a big issue. i know it's a free market and all, and if i don't want the shirt then i don't have to buy it. However, i like to have the shirt but i don't like to feel fleeced. This pisses loyal fans off and is not a good way to run a club in the long term.

ii) how come it costs more to join the FT if you're an international (like me) than a non-international? 15 quid international vs 10 quid adult UK resident. all FT correspondence can be sent by e-mail can't it? i joined in our time of need and now don't bother keeping up membership out of principle for this rather strange pricing issue. how much stuff does the FT snail mail? It would have to be 4 times or more a year to justify the price difference.

rant over...

My mates most likely going to get a half season ticket after me getting him some slightly discounted tickets. But at this rate its not probably worth it if they continue to be given away. It remains to be seen what MM will do. I doubt we'll have the same farcical distribution that we have right now.

Well clearly it works. Besides would 1 match change anything for the minorities? I went to one rugby match, barely understood what was going on, didn't know any of the players and I haven't ever been again. This is the more likley out come than if you know you can go down with your mates who already go (and therefore must see something in it)....surely you have to agree with that?

Don't be stupid. Just because its me saying it and not someone else. You know it makes perfect sense.

For example if Leicester went out of existance (lets hope it never does) I wouldn't go and support some random team on my own, I would be much more likely to support a club that one of my friends has a ST at, so I have someone to go and sit with.

im not sure what your getting at here but i would go on my own even if i didnt have mate at that ground ,its like your first ever season ticket you know where your sitting but you dont always know who your sitting next to unless your in the middle of 2 mates that is

i go to watch Feyenoord play and i never know where or who im sitting with as my mate gets my ticket for me :102: he works at weekends so i go on my own

Yes but Newton you are a football fan. The whole point of this is to try and get people who are not football fans in. The idea of going with their mates has got to make it seem more appealing.

I just think that this would be more successful than trying to introduce football to a culture that, on the whole isn't particularly intrested in it. Why not go for people who know the rules, have seen matches on the tv but have never gone down, for one reason or another, and try and get them.

But your mates already know about the game and they have probably been to the odd game in the past - but they haven't got a season ticket - and now you say that they might not even get a second-half one. What the club are trying to do is to attract people from that great untapped mass who have never been followers of the game.

.....and if they even speak English... at Juve its hit and miss, miss mainly though and sign language takes over along with talking slowly and loud ( as if that makes them understand :icon_bigg )

Well I can understand the reasons for doing it but a few 100 free tickets won't 'tap into' that market overnight. Where as what im suggesting may well have been much better in the short term for the club, and we are oviously looking at the short term here.

Long term geting more Minorities into football will happen, and I hope it does. But these kind of one off's wont do it.

They do go for them - that's why there's been offers for 'friends of people that already go' (ST holders). But in general those people who know the rules and have seen matches on TV, actually saw the match on TV because that is the way that they like their entertainment - on their arse in front of the box. And that's the way that they are likely to stay, despite the offers that have been available to them.
