I think the working on Good Friday thing is something that's specific to Leicester.
I always used to have to work on Good Friday, and a lot of the local companies we dealt with also worked, particularly manufacturing companies.
But companies in the rest of the UK were usually off on that day (and they couldn't believe we were open), which meant a lot of people had nothing to do because they couldn't talk to customers, suppliers etc, we didn't get many deliveries or send many orders out. So it was a bit of a waste of time going in.
