i'm all for being positive about players and having optimism that they perform to their best rather than their worst (i've seen coatsworth play for Leicester after all). However, Sheehan was bad enough against Charlton (who will never get promoted this season) to warrant a spell in the reserves rediscovering himself. Hayes looked much more of a footballer i.e give it to him and you might get a constructive piece of football in open play. that's why i'd go with him.
In an odd way it would be better for Sheehans confidence to have work done in the reserves rather than the pressure of the first team, where actually coming up with the goods is all that counts unfortunately.

This is a more important game for Southampton than us - they are mid table going nowhere. We have an allegedly big squad but most of them are not good enough to be picked and we can't really afford unnecessary injuries or suspensions.

Looks like a solid home win situation.

Are you suggesting that Mattock is producing the goods? If anyone would benefit from learning his trade away from the pressures of the Championship it is certainly this young man.

Sheehan is a major reason that we are not bottom of this shit tip league. without his goals and assists we would be looking even worse (very hard to imagine)

Maybe im bias, i quite like Sheehan, but i still think he's a better option than Mattock at the moment, and i think he and Hayes would give us an increased cutting edge down the left.

It is obvious that Mattock is targetted by every team we play, if we keep playing him im adament he will go the way of so many others.

it's a fair point i suppose that's why a lot of people put sheehanmattock at left back. mattock is the better prospect and sheehan is good at dead balls. neither are good open play players though, at the moment in my opinion, perhaps why we had clarke in and now look at capaldi for a bit of experience and consistency.
we could go with sheehan lb and hayes wing today. alternatively hume left wing. a chambers right wing. bit of pace down the flanks. would like to see king given a go alongside weso sitting back. but it'll be a defender again won't it.

is gradel available after his return?. right winger, wowing the bournemouth fans, worth a go? we've not got much better to offer on the right wing?

What side does this Salt bloke play on?, and is he available?
