Yeah, who wants to see kids from the Youth team break in to their national u-21s and then break into our team when we can see them leave for teams that'll play them instead?

qv. Hamza Choudhury,Harvey Barnes, George Thomas

Would be great for them to break through if they're good enough. Chilwell certainly isn't at the moment though.

According to some made up crap in the press two years ago, and nothing since

No offers, no enquiries
So if we don’t hear about offers and enquiries because they haven’t been leaked to the press, they don’t exist.

But if we do hear about offers and enquiries that have been leaked to the press, it’s a load of made up crap.

Righty-o.

And Chilwell and the rest will never be good enough if they're not given a decent bit of game time. As it is, it's hard to say which is better of Chilwell or Fuchs - a bloke who won the league just two years ago.

It's high time he was given a proper run, a three man defence would address his main weakness, as well as get the best out of Maguire, and allow us to concentrate resources on more obvious gaps in the squad.

The same argument could be used for playing any youth team players. His main weaknesses are not being any good defensively or going forward...difficult to change formation to suit that but it's Probably why Puel rates him.

But yeah, he does seem better than Fuchs at the moment which concerns me that we've not bought a replacement yet.

He started over half of all Premier League matches last season, and a few as sub - I would suggest that is more than 'a decent bit of game time' ?

You're going to have to explain how this works. If [Chilwell's] not good enough to be a quarter of a four-man defence, how will it be better if he's a third of a three-man back-line?

Presumably he’s not suggesting Chilwell plays in a back 3, but rather as a LWB.

Oh! So we only have to have somebody in front of him to go forward and we have managed away all his shortcomings. I see now.

I'm not sure Chilwell offers too much in either a defensive or offensive sense IMO. I don't know what formation we'll go for next year, but I would like to see us try and bring in Yerry Mina. Some real international quality added to the squad and a big presence in both boxes.

I expect Maddison will feature a lot though it'll be interesting to see whether that's as a no.10 or central midfield, maybe even up top as we saw with Mahrez a few times if Iheanacho is not able to strike up a meaningful partnership with Vardy.

Chilwell is more than fine at both ends you could have Beckham at his peak whipping in crosses for us if only Vardy is in the box they are going to look shit.

People keep wanting to blame Chilwell at the other end too but funnily enough people targeted the Morgan-Simpson side of our defence to attack, but some how that is the left backs fault.

The the a fundamental mental flaw in our fan base, if someone comes through our own academy they are absolute shite, no matter what, if we'd signed Chilwell this summer from else where people would be excited at his arrival

But that is just not true. Chilwell is just not that good at what he is supposed to do, but I would never stoop to accusing anybody who can't see that as suffering from a fundamental mental flaw.

if it was just Chilwell you may have a point but its not its everyone that comes through, its pathetic, same as some would rather the team fail than admit they are wrong about Puel

He started games more often than not last season. More often than not he made a defensive error or three that led to a goal scoring opportunity or a goal. More often than not, he was completely devoid of ideas once had carried the ball past half way. He's just not good enough at anything. If he was someone else's player who'd had the same season elsewhere and we had bought him, I'd be bitterly disappointed that we looked to be preparing for life back in the Championship, where a player like Chilwell may do well.

Chilwell as a left back isn't good enough to be our first choice left back - yet. His defensive positioning is too poor.

But as a LWB in a 3-5-2, I'd be happy with him. He's better going forwards than he is defensively, but he'll learn the defensive side of the game. That positioning knowledge only really comes from playing experience.

In a back 4, it also limits us because Chilwell isn't good enough defensively to cover Maguire's runs forward, but in a back 3 that's more of a weapon and less of a threat.

See that’s simply not true, people want to blame Chilwell but according to the premier leagues official stats he made 1 mistake that lead to a goal that’s it, One

I mean, as evidence goes, this is as useful as if you had just hit a wok with a wooden spoon. He made many, many errors, some which led to chances that better strikers would have taken, some that led to a goal. I saw them. Tens of thousands of others did too. He was garbage for the vast majority of his time on the pitch and no spurious, unquantifiable statistics can even begin to convince me otherwise. I know what I saw.

If you insist in using that nonsense as evidence however, then his 2 assists doesn't make him quite the threat you may think he is going forward. We must invest at LB or LWB or we will be overrun every game down that side.

Chilwell has a lot to learn but saying he was garbage the vast majority of the the time seems beyond harsh.

He's young. He's got a lot to learn. He's not a world beater but he's not awful either.
