I think that’s a fair appraisal, though I’m not fully convinced about Evans who struggled in spells last year.
I’d agree with that. An absolute snip at £3m for sure, but he didn’t exactly cover himself with glory in a relegated team (unlike Maguire the season before). In fact, WBA started winning games after they dropped him.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on being alongside a decent centre back and in front of a decent goalkeeper. Hopefully last season was just a blip for the lad.

i think its clear we will be 4231. Looking at the squad we look like we can only aupport a formation that has 1 striker. If we can only name a squad of 25 for the Premier League it looks like:

GK: Schmeichel, Ward (£12.5m) Jakupovic

FB: Ricardo (£22m), Amartey, Fuchs, Chilwell
CB: Maguire, Morgan, Evans (£3.5m), Johnson, Soyuncu (£19m), Benkovic (£13m)
CM: Choudhury, Iborra, Silva, Ndidi, Maddison (£24m)
LM/RM: Albrighton, Gray, Diabate, Ghezzal (£12.5m)
CF: Vardy, Iheanacho, Okazaki

Total spend: £107.5m

not in squad: King, James, Simpson, Knight, Sam Hughes, Ndukwu, Elder (the latter four are unlucky not to get into the 25 given how good our u23s are)

Sold/Loaned: Mahrez (£60m), Musa(£12m), Ulloa (tbc), Slimani (loan fee tbc), Gordon

Est Sold Total: £75m

Net spend £32.5m

Not the biggest investment all told but Puel at least cleaning up a lot of the squad issues and hopefully uniting the squad behind the efforts for the season.

if we are unlucky with injuries I think we could rue not having another striker.

Hadn’t realised we had signed Ashley Young. Also, not sure why you’d play him at centre back, and we’d struggle to get away with having 12 players in the team I reckon.

You and your ****ing facts.

I predict that by the end of September, we will be playing 3-5-2.

Kasper
Benkovic Maguire Soyuncu
Pereira N'Didi Maddison Johnson Chilwell
Vardy Iheanacho

Take out Kasper and Vardy, we would have an average age of about 22.

The future is blue, the future is great.

So you'd put a young centre back / right back in midfield?
I don't think even Puel would do that.

I suppose I’ll point out “Young Turk” is one player and refers to our 22 year old Turkish defender whose name I’ve not yet committed to memory.

I would put Johnson in as a defensive mid-fielder to go with N'Didi. He is fast and can defend, but also likes to attack. I see that as his future position

Christ almighty.

I’m a firm believer that we are lacking quality in central midfield, but suggesting putting some kid in who has never played a Premier League game, and in the wrong position is a whole new level.

Actually, I guess it did work well for Harry Worley...

I completely agree. I'm hoping we'll see this at some point this season - I don't think we will for the first couple of weeks though.

As is likely for several or more players born on or after 1st January 1997.
