Ask around for roadkill, then, if killing animals on purpose is the problem.

Tastes pretty much as good as butchered meat - although freshly killed venison also has that texture problem.

My Uncle was a butcher and he used to cook us the best steaks ever. He only ever uses old meat too, he's not happy unless the raw steak is brown.
