I know he looks a good player but his continuous injuries are beginning to concern me.We can't afford to have players in the Squad who are almost constantly out through injury. If someone offered half a million for him (and he was able to get through the medical)i January I would now be inclined to take it and spend it on a Player who as the build/physique to cope with the demands of this League,Hughes is just too lightweight IMO and I fear another Lee Morris scenario.

I'm still more than willing to give him a chance... The injuries are worrying but he's still played a lot more than Morris in a shorter space of time... I'd still rather sell Williams in January and see if Hughsey can get fit and back into the team before close season. He's not quite had enough injuries for my to be able to say whether he's injury-prone or just unlucky. If he only makes a handful of appearances between now and May then we'll have to re-think it... I couldn't see anyone offering 500k for him in January at the moment anyway..

I'm not sure if it's injury prone as such, I think it's more that they keep trying to bring him back in too quickly... Isn't it still the same injury keeping him out?
He just needs to be left out completely until he is fully fit, don't rush him back.

At present and for most of this season, Hughes has offered little or no value to the City squad, it is not his fault that he keeps picking niggling injuries up but there must come a time where realism takes over from potential, Hughes is no use to Leicester City sat in the stands every saturday, and making one appearance a month before being forced back to the treatment table, we have a small squad, and one that can ill afford to lose a player of his quality on such a regular basis.

IMO if we cannot get to the bottom of why he is picking these knocks up or we cannot build the guy up enough to protect him, then we should cut our losses and move him on for a fee that allows to sign a more than adequate replacement who is capable of standing up to the rigours of English football.

No I think you made your point very well highland, I was just agreeing with you, I think the problem lies in the fact because Hughes is talented, fans would rather see him sat on the treatment table at the Walkers than seeing him playing for another club, me I would rather see our coffers boosted with the cash to enable us to sign a player capable of making a positive contribution on the pitch.

Bollocks, and there was me hoping you had forgotten, oh well best prepare myself for your rightful revenge !

What a steaming pile of horse shit. Sell our best player (at what would have to be a lot less than his true value) because he picked up an ankle knock pre-season and hasn't been given the right rehab.

Do people not remember his contributions last season.

Sell him on? I ask you.....

Now, Now Luke there is no need for that type of anger, what both myself and Highland are saying is that in our current situation and with the small squad we have to operate with, we can ill afford to have players of the quality of hughes continually picking up niggling injuries, and it is not all to do with that ankle knock, isnt his latest injury something else. I dont think either of us dont recognise his obvious talent and the contribution he made last season but neither can we ignore the fact that this season he has played little more than a handful of games and is appearing to be more than a little injury prone, it is a concern he cannot influence matches from the stand or the treatment table.

So you sell him, who do you buy?? Can you replce him with a better player for what? £250k tops??

It's nonsense, give him the right treatment, get him out of the team - as should have happened initially.

What evidence do you have from this Season Df that he's our best player ? He's only played about half a hour.

That doesn't suddenly change the fact he is our best player! He has been injured!!

Of the time he has spent on the pitch since being with us, ability wise and in many ways contribution wise, he is head and shoulders above anybody else.

I'm not saying he isn't good player DF,he could just be he's not cut out for this type of football but at Rangers he was constantly suffering with niggling injuries.
Besides it was only an ides,no need to wet yourself.

I agree if we can get him fit then great, and I doubt we could replace a fully fit Hughesy as he is a cracking player, but on the evidence of this season I am beginning to have grave doubts over his injury record, and whether we will ever get the opportunity to see a fully fit Stephen Hughes for any sustained run of matches. I sincerely hope I am wrong but the way he keeps appearing for one match at a time then misses another 4 or 5 is really beginning to concern me.
