Before we get too carried away, one of the papers this morning made the quite valid point that it was actually the trees who made the first 'sporting gesture' by agreeing to the abandonment in the first place.

I'm pleased with the gesture and some of the responses I've seen, but I'm not sure if the Premier League fans at work are even aware it happened - certainly none of them have mentioned it, just as none of them said anything after Clarke's heart attack. A League Cup game involving non-Prem teams just doesn't register on the radar it appears. Well done to all involved, anyway.

Might not have registered with the Premier League but it's made the site of one of Italy national newspapers with a video to boot...
