Glad to see that your lack of enthusiasm is caused by idiots who want success, and not by a team that has singularly failed to improve by its signings, has played few pre-season friendlies - and shown no enthusiasm in any that they have! :icon_bigg

P.S. This is not an anti-Pearson rant: he made it very clear that his hands are tied.

The football bubble looks to be deflating, hopefully the sport will be back in the hands of the fans at some point, there will be lots of pain involved and supporters will have to accept that football operates in the real world.

I've barely followed the build up to the season and only watched odd moments of the Monaco game. It's a strange feeling going in to a season this removed from it, but it will be interesting to see how long my resolve holds up.

Ditto for me.

I wasn't impressed by the Monaco performance as already mentioned but I'm still enthusiastic...

Tomorrow night will be the first game my three year old has attended and he's really excited!

I would love this to be true but, I do not see the evidence. Just because Leicester City are fading ever further from the top table, does not mean that football, in general, is changing: BT is keen to pour money into football, challenging Sky, whose response is to pour yet more money in. They are not doing this out of generosity, but because people will pay for their soccer fix.

Germany appear to have taken action to reduce overspend but I do not see FFP having the same affect in Britain because the big clubs will ensure that the rules apply to others, and not them.

I hope that you are right and I wrong!

I think you're looking at a very small number of clubs if you think money problems aren't relevant to professional football in this country.

Very few clubs in any division of English football are signing significantly this off season, it may take time but there is definitely a change going on.

As mentioned earlier, some don't want success, they actively want us to fail so that Pearson gets the sack. There were people near me last season who, if we went a goal behind, were encouraging the opposition to score more to prove how shit we were.

You're sure you weren't in the away end?

There's nowt so queer as folk! :102:

I can fully believe it, the amount of people around me at times last year who would be capable of saying something similar was startling.

I barely pay enough attention to other fans to get annoyed with them. I find amusement in the thickos, if anything.

I've barely followed the build up to the season and only watched odd moments of the Monaco game, choosing instead to play outside with my daughter. It's a strange feeling going in to a season this removed from it, but it will be interesting to see how long my resolve holds up.

You know, that could be me writing that. Apart from the bit about your daughter of course. I am hoping that our first goal against Leeds sparks me off again.

Is interesting to see how low key the run up to the championship season has been. Inertia through fear for most clubs.
back the academy and the decent senior players. Make it £20 and stadiums will be full and marginally happy to be there...

There certainly will not be a taxi for Pearson because the club cannot afford it!

If there is no money to pay extra wages, even to players coming on a free, there is certainly not enough money to sack Pearson and replace him.

You would not get a better manager who would be happy to come without bringing in some players of his own.

So costs would be payout to Pearson + his staff + new manager + new staff + new players, maybe £5-10million?

You would have to assume that outgoing players would not be sold because they are on silly Sven wages.

Performances would almost certainly deteriorate before they got better, like changing only half the clubs in your bag.

Changing managers under FPP is simply not affordable, unless you are in danger of relegation or players/mutiny.

We know that 6 months ago this same squad played really good football and won games. They can do it again.

I have to confess I am at a total loss as to why during March and April it all went down the toilet when there were no significant injuries or suspensions compared to the previous two months

It will be interesting, but even more interesting to hear what some of our good players think of Nige.

It might also be interesting to hear NP's opinion on Wellens... just for a bit of balance.
