I went back to Fossil Creek, the place I took the photos of Freddie Flintoff white-water kayaking. There was a lot more water in spring.

And that's it. For April...

I haven't really looked at this thread much before, but the photos some of you guys & gals get are absolutely fantastic! Some of the pictures of the birds are really awesome. In the words of David Hasselhoff, 'Great Jaaabb!' (Great Job) :icon_wink

I thought I'd post these photos I took in the White Mountains of central eastern Arizona last month, just to document what it looked like before it burnt down.

This is going to be the scary one the next time I go back to Green's Peak. Everything in this photo, stretching off into the distance, is currently on fire and absolutely fecked.

Lightening the mood, here are some pretty butterflies :)

Another scenic one from the White Mountains, this is Big Springs Environmental Area in Pinetop, which hasn't burnt down yet thankfully.

Last scenic one, the Springs trail near Pinetop. Hope this place makes it through the fires safely.

Dusky Grouse. This is an extremely hard bird to see, let alone photograph, so I'm well pleased with these. This was at the top of Green's Peak, about 10,200 feet above sea level.

Excellent as ever. How far away from these birds are you and do you have to sit for hours waiting for something to come along? I rarely manage to get a decent shot of the birds in my garden.

When I was in Alaska you could smell the fires but there were exhibitions explaining why they generally let them burn as it is seen as a part of the natural cycle leading to rengeneration. However from the news reports it seems yours are exceptionally bad this year so presumably not seen as a sad but good thing?

I went snowboarding up in the White Mountains last year, stayed at the lodge in Greer which sadly I understand has burnt down.

I understand from my MIL all of the parks are closed due to a fire risk?
