Fascinating thread this.Shows how much the game has changed.Elitism & class divisions inside a football ground.Poor people who can't afford the better part of 400 quid for a season ticket or 25 for a match ticket being allowed into the hallowed halls? Disgraceful.I mean come on,since when have the working classes had anything to do with football?

Tut tut.

Makes me long for the days when all of us would have been assumed to be mindless drunken thugs just for going.

While I can't speak for BG, I'm not sure any of this is about class or wealth, I think you need to go back and read some of it again.

Remember football is 'a gentlemens game played by thugs'. Those in the crowd are all respectable gentlemen. Let the dross reside on the pitch.

Wearing a hooded top isn't a problem. Wearing it in a certain manner is.

The stereotype derives from the 'fact' that 90% of scumbags wear a hooded top, usually over their heads, occasionally with a baseball cap underneath.

These people that i refer to as scumbags are the idiotic thugs who enjoy confrontation and intimidation. Scum of the earth, to put it another way.
The pair of tossers in front of me had baseball caps on underneath the hood, and to just show how much class they had one had an old city shirt over the ****ing hoodie for christs sake!!!!!

They also asked me if I knew where Nathan sat....

Me too, with my City shirt on the outside. I very rarely beat up old people as well, only those that look at me funny.

So why did I escape with my life when you turned up at the MKD pub with green hair?

I wore a hooded top with my black away shirt over the top. I also had a hat on. It was like a beanie hat with a peak, and the top missing, like a visor-type hat. I am far from a Chav, or these scumbags which you are describing. Also, on the walk down Upperton Road, I also put my hood up, over my hat, because of the rain...

I think some people have missed the point, not necessarily because they can't see it but because they weren't aiming for it in the first place.

It was raining, it's fairly normal to put a hood up then, that's what they are for. What people are saying is that there is no good reason to have the hood up, ie. when weather is fine, they are indoors, on a bus etc. The chances are they are a dirty little chav trying to look "bad bad".

I've got a hood on my raincoat - sometimes I put it up, but only when it's raining

Just thought I'd share that with you

Boyz in the hood was about naughty boyz wearing hoods... proof that hoods = trouble.

Tom Tom Club did that there Wordy Rapping Hood

So that just about proves it, really
