from the famous rumours site!

I know there are already threads about this, but this is a classic and IMO deserves a new thread to it's self!

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce is desperately looking for a new striker as Nicklas Bendtner is returning to Arsenal. His prime target is Leicester City striker Elvis Hammond. Bruce thinks Hammond's lightning pace will cause a lot of problems next season in the Premiership. He was also impressed with Hammond's performance and goal against Birmingham earlier this season

Many thanks

Re: Rumours Thread

According to the BBC rumours page, Boro are also after Luke Varney. They can do one, he's Leciester born and bred!

I'd think Varney would tell us to feck off, we didnt spot him all the time he was playing kids footie or when he was scoring left, right and centre for Quorn.

If Derby n Leicester came in, I reckon he'd go Derby

Is he a Leicester fan?

Re: Rumours Thread

Fink so, but I'd be pissed off if City always rejected me and then when I finally started scoring at a higher level they are flies round shit.

so are you saying we should sign every leicestershire saturday league player who scores goals just because they support leicester. stupid argument, this is a football club, fair play the lad has proven himself (kind of) but doesnt mean he has the right to be pissed off that city didnt sign him in the first place

Nope, I am saying that if the lad was a City fan and they constantly rejected him until he was 19. Then I'd disappointed if they felt the need to sign him as the finished article and they couldn't spot the potential during his youth career. If a club over equal status came in for him, he'd be more inclined to go the other club because if these coaches rejected you at 15-19 and now all of a sudden they love you and want to work with you.

The bottom line is in reality Leicester had no forevision in signing Varney when the chances were there, it would seem hypocritical of City to think he's good now all of sudden when the same scouts/coaches are at the club.

Take Dublin for example.....

Boils down to the lucritive money offer in the end, you can quickly ditch your grievence if there is one for an extra 100,000 or whatever is on offer.

Hazz, you seem to have a bit of a downer on the club for some reason...

Firstly, is there anything other than a rumour that we, along with several other clubs, are interested? No. Hardly "flies round shit" is it?

He was rejected once by City, I don't know where you got the "always" from (just to make it sound more dramatic I suspect). The fact that he went to play for Quorn next probably justifies the decision, as he was obviously not good enough at that time.

He's not scored at a "higher level" at all; in fact, he didn't look that good in the Championship last year, but he's done well in League 1 this season.

He and his family are well known to be City fans. I saw his folks away at Crewe - city shirts with Varney on the back.

If there was a choice between Leicester and most other teams (unless you're talking big time, which we aren't), then I suspect he would come straight to Leicester.

But do we want him?

what if varney didnt look good enough when he was a young lad, but has developed due to his involvement in the lower leagues, how is that leicesters fault. players changw over the years and leicester should not have to take very young lad on. if he is a real leicester fan and derby and leicester came in for him NOW i know who he should choose, if he didnt then **** him.
